2. How does your media product represent particular social groups? My magazine represents people between the ages of 15-19, this is reflected by the model used in my magazine as they are of a similar age to my target audience. I believe the younger age group can be represented in the media negatively so by showing talent within my magazine portrayed them in a positive way. This is because he is looking at the camera and smiling which showing positive. The image used is of a black person which portrays my magazine is aimed at any ethnic group. I have used a range of different ethnicities within my magazine as the mainstream genre reflects many different ethnicities. Here’s an example of an artists within the mainstream pop genre. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuwfgXD8qV8&ob=av2e Over all I think my image represents a young teenage age group who like to keep up on celeb gossip as well as being interested within music of the mainstream pop genre. When creating my magazine I ensured I related back to my target audience as within my focus group before creating my magazine they said ‘The image of the main artist should represent music as well as them as individual, and also range from male to female each issue to show it’s targeted at both sexes.‘ I did this so that my music magazine will appeal to them. My magazine is clear for who it is aimed at as the image on the cover isn't of a stereotype, for example the image isn't of a rocker, emo or chav, its aimed at anyone. I done this so anyone could pick up my magazine without thinking its of a particular stereotype.

2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My main striking image on my front cover is of a model aged 18. I have used an image of him looking directly

at the camera and smiling. I have done this so it represents people between the ages 16-19 in a positive

light.

The images used throughout my contents page are similar to the one I have used on my front cover. I have ensured that the images I have used the models are looking at the

camera or even smiling. I have done this so the target audience can engage with the models, as its positive

images used. As well my images the represent both sexes as my images are of both males and females.

The images used on my double page spread I have used positive images. I have used images of models looking in

to the camera so the target audience can feel engaged within the article. As well as this the smaller images I have used represent the models in a positive way as my models

looking at the camera as well as smiling.
