How did you attract / address your audience?

To start with, my magazines masthead is bright and bold making it stand out which I feel fits the genre well as it connotes a feeling of warmth and happiness.

I feel that my main image is eye catching and shows straight away to the viewer the genre through the use of an electric guitar and skinny hoodie. This is supported by my focus group as it was said that the image looks striking and professional which would catch the readers eye. Furthermore 1 main image is what my questionnaire results showed that my audience wanted so they should feel encouraged by the choice.

From my focus group I have established that I made the correct choice of colours with red, white and black. It was said that because they are bright they are eye catching while still representing the genre well.

The footer I have used is in keeping with the colour scheme and because they contrast well, the names of the bands/artists stand out well. This means that anyone who likes one of the featured artists may see there name then buy the magazine just to see their feature.

Having the cover line “10 bands you will love” the audience will feel as though the magazine is reaching out to them and trying to help them thus encouraging a purchase.

Finally the word “exclusive” suggests a one off feature that won't be seen anywhere else and gives the feeling of speciality which will draw in my target audience to find out more and buy the magazine.

Using the rule of thirds has been successful for me as it makes my contents page very easy to follow and understand. Also, feedback from my focus group have supported this by saying it makes the magazine more accessible.

I have maintained the colour scheme with the use of red and black boxes. This adds familiarity making the reader feel more comfortable with the magazine. This is shown in my masthead where the magazine title has been included. All the boxes have stroke around them which makes it look professional.

Like the front cover, I have used 1 main image then added in some smaller ones as this is what my target audience wanted as shown in y questionnaire. All the images vary so that they do not become stale and each have various points of attraction.

I have included various sections that could bring in different people for different reasons such as someone looking for a gig to go to so they may look at the live section. This adds more variety for the reader thus making their experience more interesting. My target audience will be informal and that's why I have given it an informal feel so it is more appealing to my target audience as this is likely to draw them in.

There is a box offering a subscription where the customer can save money rather than buying each issue which will be appealing for customers as they will want to save money.

I have used the same colours so there is familiarity and therefore a flow.

The large image on the left which takes up one side stands out and is very bright, this means that the audience will be drawn in and fascinated by it leading to them wanting to learn more about the star.

Stroke around the boxes not only gives consistency as it was used on the contents, but it makes it look more professional and makes the boxes stand out from the page.

Using the word “exclusive” also appeals to the audience as it suggests something special that is a one off making the reader read so that they feel like they know things other people don't meaning they feel special.

The article talks about topics ranging from background and future plans to relaxing and food. This further highlights the informality of my magazine which is what my target audience wants. My focus group showed me that they enjoy this style of article as it is easier to follow and reveals more about the person rather than seeing them from someone else’s perspective.

The second image shows another side to the star which could be seen as more serious making her seem a more interesting character, thus drawing in the reader to find out more.
