Google is the worlds leading search engine, and I used it to research existing trailers, billboard, magazine, posters and DVD covers. I also used it to look up the terms and conditions of copyright and how BBFC and MPAA rated their films. Without google I would have to use another search engine. With using google I have learnt what the conventions of existing products are, as I have been able to search for a wide range of examples. Google is effective with helping my communication as it allows me to see real example, this then helps improve my accuracy in constructing and advertising.

Prezi is a website that has allowed me to create more interactive presentations, I have used Prezi within in my coursework to show my findings on representations in the media and evaluating my audience feedback. Without Prezi I would have to use a different presentation method. With Prezi I have learnt that I can present my findings in a more interactive way which I feel communicates to readers better.

Using Scribd is a simple and easy way to put a PowerPoint presentation online, I have used this for my genre research, linking my trailer with theory, risk assessment, actors agreement and conventions of ancillary texts. I have used this quite a lot as I have learnt that it is very easy to use, this also enhances the communication as it isnt complicated and clear to readers.

This is an IPhone which I used for quick pictures of character profiles and different documents, I also did my voice over recordings on my Iphone which before this I didnt know it was possible. Without my Iphone I would have struggled without having the quick and easy access to the internet to upload and save my pictures/recordings.

Mindomo is a new way of presenting thoughts/ analyse/ presentations, I used Mindomo to do some audience research which I liked as I find the mind map layout easier and clearer to work with. I feels this will have communicated my findings well as the spacious structure simply groups findings together.

Blogger is a big part of my coursework as I have presented using all of the other technologies however they are all then analysed ,described and displayed on blogger. If blogger wasnt available to use I would struggle to find a way of publishing my coursework. This is because blogger allows me to embed other applications, write text, images, videos and lay them out how I want. I have learnt that blogger is one of the best ways to communicate a unit of work as presents work in a neat format.

Microsoft word is a well known software that allows you to create documents, even though Microsoft word isnt very technical, it allowed me to simply type up important information clearly, like the story plot and the final treatment of the film. Microsoft word is effective at communicating more formal and key information.

I used a digital video camera to record my footage for the film, this was an essential piece of equipment for my project because without a video camera I would have been unable to film for my trailer. I discovered how to use the cameras properly to get the best quality footage possible and was able to review my footage with the touch-screen playback button. With the video camera I used a tripod which allowed me to stand the camera in a number of different places and settings, but most importantly is allowed a more stable image to the footage.

I used a high mega pixel camera to get the best possible quality for my print product photos. I learnt about how the different settings on the camera made the lighting and focus suitable for each different location. Without a good quality camera it would have been hard to communicate certain qualities within the photos on the print products.

Fireworks is a software created by Adobe, I have had experience with Firework from AS with creating a music magazine so when it came to this year I knew the basics. In Fireworks I created my film logos/production logos, 2 magazines, a billboard, a poster, intertitles and a DVD cover. This required more of a knowledge on the software as it was a more complex task. This year I discovered more about the different filters and layers available on Fireworks as my print products required more intense detailing and effects. For each different product/ intertitle/ logos I had to use a different measurement for each as I was working in different sizes on the software so had to find the appropriate measurements. Specifically in Fireworks I learnt about how to use the magic wand tool in free form, this allowed me to careful out line the image with the wand the superimpose the image on other products (billboard).

I started to use Survey Monkey for my audience feedback, however I was unable to continue as I had too many questions to use the site for free. Although I had to stop using Survey Monkey I still learnt how to set up my own survey and found an effective way of presenting the questions. Instead of the audience feedback being on Survey Monkey Icreated a video instead.

Gmail allowed me to communicate and ask for permission off BirminghamCity Council as I need to request to use their property for filming. Emailing is a quick, safe and formal way to address an issue.

Padlet is like an online note board which allowed me to present my findings in a way where I could annotate clearly. I used Padlet for a mood board of existing product research, evaluating my products and displaying product experiments. If Padlet wasnt available I could have used PowerPoint to show my findings, however this is a more unique and innovative way to communicate and display my work.

I used Thinglink to analyse my print products (magazine, billboard, poster and DVD cover). Thinglink is a very effective and unique way of analysing different elements of different images, this is because the website lets you tag specific parts of an image so you can communicate the meaning of the convention. Without Thinglink I would have to uses arrows on a Microsoft program to analyse different elements, however this isnt a interactive or effective.

Flickr is a great way to share your photos to the public. I used Flickr to show all the photos I had taken for my print products. I learnt how to create a slideshow on Flickr which presented all the photos as an album and automatically presented them on blogger. Without this I would have had to post the pictures on a post separately but thatmakes it difficult to seems them all as it would be overcrowded.

Powerpoint is another Microsoft program that I have used before many times. It allowed be to create different slideshows of research and information and upload the on the scribd to present online. I was also able to construct simple, basic structures in the planning of my print products.

Paint is a very basic and simple program that is installed on most computers. I used Paint to put together print screens of feedback, planning tables, etc. this then let me save the as JPEGS and upload them to the blog.

Imovie was one of the most vital pieces of software for this project, I used it to edit my trailer, teaser trailer and bloopers. Before this year I hadnt used Imovie so I watched different tutorial on how to use advanced effects. I learnt how to add effects and filters to create the right feeling to the footage, I also was able to add a soundtrack, and different transitions from each shot. Without Imovie I would have been unable to complete themain task of the coursework as I wouldnt have been able to edit my film appropriately. Specifically in Imovie I learnt how to detached the audio from a clip I was then able to place some parts of the audio over intertitles which kept a continuation in the trailer and helped make it an appropriate length. Another specific tool I didnt know how to use in Imovie was green/blue screen which layered different parts of videos in a distorted effect.

Soundcloud is a music sharing website where people can posted there edits of songs to the public. I used Soundcloud to upload my 3 soundtracks to share them with the public. Without Soundcloud I would have be unable to upload my soundtracks to the internet.

Youtube is the biggest video sharing website in the world. I used Youtube to Upload feedback videos, trailer process, final trailer, teaser trailer and bloopers. Using Youtube also allows me to embed my videos onto my blog as a way of presenting them. Without Youtube I would be unable to get my final finished trailer onto the internet.

Audacity is a music editing software which I had never used before. I downloaded it to edit my soundtracks to the trailer, especially At Last which I had to trim down, put an intense echo and tremble effect of the music and create a jumpy ending. I learnt the different ways you can edit the voice and music to create acertain feeling on my trailer. Without audacity I would have to have used a different editing software.

This is a software I downloaded to film the screen of my computer. I downloaded this as a method of presenting my evaluations, and learnt that Snagit allowed me to capture a voice over of me explaining elements of my trailer and ancillary texts whilst the trailer was playing. I was able to pause in certain places to talk about the effects of the part and was also able to show how the products all linked together.
