Evaluation 4Who would be the audience for my media product

Example of target audience, men women in twenties and thirties

Page 4: Evaluation 4

Primary audience is 20s to early 30s focusing mainly on the female half of the age bracket. The film is also aimed at the more Western audience rather than for a world audience, reflected in the background of the story and its setting.

The secondary audience are teenagers, focusing on neither gender more than the other for this bracket. However, even though it isn’t designed to appeal towards any particular gender more than the other it might appeal slightly more towards the male half of this age group

The reason for the selected TV series that are displayed on the mood board (Homeland & The Bridge). The reason I have selected these two series to feature on my mood board is because they both have the same target audience to my film and also share similarities in genre and aspects of the story/plot.

Homeland is a show that has the same target audience and it’s genre is also a spy thriller. They also share certain similarities in plot because of how the character of Nicolas Brody is a defector from his government and previous allegiance, just as in mine several characters defect from the corporation that they are a part of. I also compared the living situation of Thomas Walker from season 1, in my second evaluation task, to how my characters are forced to live for the main duration of the film.

The reason for The Bridge having featured on my mood board is because it shares the thriller genre like my film and, again, the same target audience. The inner city setting is also something shared between my film and this series as well.

The reason for the selected films (Alien, Bourne Supremacy and The Untouchables) is because they were films designed to appeal to a similar audience as mine but also to do with the genre; particularly referencing genre to The Untouchables and Bourne Supremacy.

Alien is more commonly seen as a Sci-Fi/Thriller with certain aspects of horror to it. However, I have used it as a comparison because of the story background, particularly with the Weyland Yutani corporation. This group are one who sent them out there, comfortable in the fact that they might die; because of this aspect of the film it can be compared to my film and represent aspects of my target audience.

The Bourne Supremacy ties in with my target audience because of genre, target audience and the origin of the story (in how it was a book series at first). The Bourne Supremacy is spy/thriller film with the same target audience but the fact it was originally a book series ties in with the idea of my target audience because of how book series are consistently more likely to appeal to a female audience rather than male.

The Untouchables doesn’t have any particular aspects that appeal to my audience other than the consistency of representing the same target audience; however, in this case it represents the male half more rather than female like my film does.
