What have you learnt from
your audience feedback?
Target Audience The majority of my target audience are females from the ages of 15-30, it
could be estimated that 70% of the fans are female and the remainder only 30%, a minority of the fans may be of 31-35 this is the mature adult age. Throughout the process of the production of my music video, gathering feedback from class mates as well asasFans was crucial to allowing me to create a final product that would be appealing to not only fans but also any audience. It’s important that I know what needs improving and what people like about my products so that I can apply that knowledge into improving my products so that it can appeal to as many people as
possible.
Feedback
The type of feedback that I have generated is an interview, this was conducted on three people, one of them being a huge fan of Marina and
the diamonds (1), the other who knew who she was but had never listened to her music (2) and another friend that had never heard of her nor her music (3), I chose these specific people because it allowed me to have a variety of feedback. Whilst getting this feedback I gained a lot of insight into what people liked and what they didn’t, I was also surprised
at some of the feedback because I personally had different views, however I took the feedback and applied as much of it to improving my
three products.
Feedback generated
In asking one the first candidate about their thoughts on all three products I got the response that I was hoping for, this is the candidate that was a huge fan of Marina
and the Diamonds, the fact that all my three tasks were directed at her as an audience and she had a positive view of the way they were portrayed is very
relieving because it kind of meant that I had fulfilled my task of trying to appeal to my audience. However the only problem that she had was with the ancillary task
and she said that the digipack was that the colouring didn’t match with the tone of the music video and the, however that combination of both ancillary tasks went well
together. I took this comment and improved the colouring and overall; tone of the digipack because at first it looked very feminine and it didn’t look like it belonged to
the indie genre, but when I changed it it matched the whole tone of all tasks put together. The second candidate to make comments on my work was the candidate 2 made many comments of the appearance of the music video and said that it didn’t look like a typical Marina and the Diamonds music video, however she also said that it had a lot of deep meaningful messages within it and this is what I was intending to
do.
What action did I take? Most of Marina and the Diamonds music videos are very colourful and up
beat however this one goes against that because it’s a sad song and I wanted to match the lyrics with the video. My last and final candidate commented
very positively on the final outcome of all my tasks put together, this candidate was a media student meaning that they knew what things I could
do to improve in terms of how to improve it on like premier or photoshop giving me a great advantage. This candidate said that I needed to improve
the overall look of some of my images by changing the tone and make them look darker she recommended that I use Photoshop to do this in which I did, I changed the tone of the images of the tree by making it look darker which in
my opinion was very helpful to achieving the overall genre of the ancillary tasks and my music video. This candidate also said that I needed to shoot more of my scenes outdoors because most of the scenes were shot in my
room and indoors, I addressed this comment by shooting some scenes of the music video outside which did improve the appearance of my music video.
Overall……
Overall this feedback gave me a lot of confidence in my products because of the positive response that I got. The few criticism that I got I
aimed to improve on them and make the product as best as I could.
