EVALUATION 2: HOW DOES YOUR MEDIA

PRODUCT REPRESENT

PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUPS?

Page 2: Evaluation 2

REPRESENTATION OF GENDER: I managed to represent females in my magazine by using

females for some of my photo shoots. Before taking the photos I planned out the mise-en-scene for each photo shoot, this enabled me to consider the make up and clothes the model would be wearing.

For this photo shoot, the girl isn’t wearing loads of make up as I wanted to get a natural look across as I think this would appeal to most teenage girls. I then decided to add in the cake and apron as it links in with the anchorage of what the article would be about. The apron is also pink which is a colour associated with females.

Females from my audience would relate to these models, because they are the same gender and similar ages.

I have represented males by using the same technique when representing females. So I made sure to include a male model in my magazine.

During this photo shoot I planned what clothes he would wear. I decided to go with a leather jacket as this clothing is what quite a lot of males wear today. The hairstyle also represents males as quite a lot of my target audience has this similar hairstyle.

Males from my audience would relate to these models, because they are the same gender and similar ages.

Overall I have represented both genders within

my magazine by considering the photos I wanted

to take.

REPRESENTATION OF AGE: I have represented teenagers through my

magazine by using models that are a similar age to my target audience. I made sure that most of them looked very positive by the emotions the models are showing, such as smiling. And most teenagers within my target audience have happy, exciting vibes.

I have also represented teenagers by the model’s hairstyles. The models all have different hair styles to add variety to the magazine, however most hair styles shown include what my target audience will have themselves.

Teenagers are more likely to buy a magazine if the articles are about similar aged people to them because it means they are more likely to relate.
