QUESTION 3What have you learned from your audience feedback?

•Audience feedback was proved to be very important when designing and creating a media text because it allows you to discover who your target audience is and what their preferences are, this is important as it means that the magazine can then be designed to be targeted specifically at that audience to hopefully make them more likely to pick up the product and read it. Audience feedback could also be used to be able to find ways in which people believe the product could be improved.

•One method of audience feedback that I used was a questionnaire. Creating a questionnaire was effective because it meant that I could find out what the preferences were for a small group of people and then use the data collected to help me to design some of the aspects of my magazine, for example it helped me to find out what the average age of people who would be reading the magazine were and this would then mean that I could tailor the content that was put into the magazine to that specific age group.

•My audience feedback did influence my magazines design in some aspects. One of the main aspects of my magazine that the audience feedback influenced was the content that would go into the magazine which would be showed by the main articles that would be displayed on the front of the magazine. Also the results would have helped with the design of the adverts that would be In the magazine as some of the results of the magazine were about what different hobbies people have, so if one of the hobbies was the most common an advert could be designed around this as it would mean that it would have been more likely to appeal to the target audience.

•If I were to conduct another audience research in the future something that I may do differently would be to add more questions to my questionnaire this would mean that a wider range of data may be collected and this could mean that I could use more of the data to help design my final product to make it appeal more to the target audience

•Also if I were to conduct any more audience research in the future I would make sure that all of the questions on the questionnaire are relevant to the magazine and how it should be designed and what content should be put in it, this would make it easier to design the final product

Question 1 - Age

•Putting this question on my questionnaire was to allow me to be able to find out who my main audience would be which would then in turn help me be able to decide the model for the front cover, as the main ages shown by the survey were 16-25 this allowed me to be able to chose a model who could be classed as an ideal self or an ideal partner for the different readers of the magazine.

•Asking the age of the readers would also allow me to find out what adverts would be best suited to go into the magazine

Question 2 - Gender

•Asking this question allowed me to find out if I should be targeting my magazine mainly at men or women, this is important as it would have an impact on the different adverts that would be placed in to the magazine as well as the different articles that could be listed on the front cover and in the contents page

•Also as I found out that the majority of the audience who took the survey were female this meant that I could chose to make my cover star seem more like an ideal self to the people that would be reading it.

Question 3 - Most used social media platforms

•This was also an important question as it would allow me to find out where the magazine could be advertised and what different accounts could be made for the magazine to try and attract a wider audience

Question 4 - Current occupation

•This question allowed me to find out what the different occupations were of each of the people who took the survey, for example student

•This would allow me to better chose what type of articles to put into the contents page that would best suit the main occupancy of the readers, for example students may want budget guides and chances to win different school supplies ect

Question 5 - Hobbies/Interests

•This question also allowed me to be able to find out what different articles and adverts should be put into the magazine

•For example the survey showed that a large number of people who took it were interested in film and tv which could mean that each issue could have a top 10 films/tv shows of the month

Question 6 - How aware are you of local events

•This question would allow me to be able to find out how many people would want a local listings magazine so that they would be able to find out what different events are going on in the area around them.

Question 7 - how do you consume media

•This would allow me to find out if I would need to make the website for my magazine to be mobile friendly as a large majority of the people who took the survey stated that they used their phone the most often to consume media and could also allow me to find out if a digital copy of the magazine could be advertised and created as this could then mean that more people may read it.

Question 8 - most preferred magazine styles

•Asking this question allowed me to figure out if the majority of the people who took the survey preferred a more minimalist looking magazine with very few details on the cover or a more traditional looking magazine that includes a left third and more details about what is inside the magazine on the front cover

•The survey allowed me to find out that the majority of the people who took the survey preferred the more minimalistic cover.

Question 9 - what would make you read the magazine

•This question would allow me to find out what would make people most likely to pick up a magazine and read it for example it could be that some people may pick it up and read it mainly due to the aesthetics of a magazine, the content of the magazine, or any competitions that could be in the magazine

•The majority of people who took the survey thought that the content in the magazine would make them pick it up and read it, this would mean that I would need to make sure that the minimalist cover page also gave enough information about the content to help the possibility of people picking up the magazine.

Question 10 - what would make you want to read a regional listings magazine the most

•This question allowed me to find out what would make people want to read a regional listings magazine specifically, this would then allow me to decide what a large majority of the content in the magazine should be.

•From the survey results I found out that a large amount of people wanted a regional listings magazine to have a interview in them which indicated to me that I should make sure that an interview with a local star could be the one of the article headings that went on the cover page along with a model who the ‘interview’ would be with.

•Also the survey should that many people would want to know about what upcoming events are happening in the area around them which could also mean that these should be features on the cover page
