6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Camera

For al the photos in the magazine I had to use a still camera. Generally I just used the automatic setting because that sets the correct shutter speed and aperture for you. One thing I did need to be conscious of was the angles that the photos were taken at, so they would be flattering and interesting. Also although the camera helps with lighting I mostly shot in locations that had a good source of naturel light, which saved my from needing to edit to much later on.

Photoshop & InDesign

To construct my cover and contents I used Photoshop, but for the double page spread I used InDesign. I had used some Photoshop before in the preliminary but this time I learned more about how to do simple tasks effectively. Such as better editing my images and using the marquee tool to create shapes that can be placed behind text, making it stand out more. With InDesign however I had never used it before. But the program did allow me to produce an A5 piece effectively. There is also a set boarder so it was easy to add the page number and repeat masthead in these margins.

Presenting

For the research, planning and evaluation aspects of the project there was a lot of information that needed to be presented. I used a range of websites and programs to do this including Prezi, Powtoon and PowerPoint.PowerPoint and Powtoon are effective in splitting information up into sections, developing evidence and creating a presentation. Prezi I found useful for creating mind map type styles, so information can take shape of a small project where info is set out and can be linked together with one base question or desire. Both Prezi and Potoon were new pieces of technology for me but I felt capable in effectively using and creating with them.
