A Central sterile services department consists of the washer for the thermo-chemical disinfection of trolleys. This piece of equipment is of major importance. It repre-sents the first step to reduce and stabilise the microbial load, and guarantee reduction can be repeated over time.

The equipment in the Eurowasher XL line is second only to the steriliser in material “re-processing”.

It washes different types of trolleys, containers, basins, etc. perfectly, with a significant log reduction (LOG) in micro-organisms.

The Eurowasher XL line is a new generation series of washing cabinets for the thermo-chemical disinfection of trolleys, containers and medical footwear.

It is the result of the most advanced project design devel-oped by Angelantoni Life Science, a leading company in Infection Control.

This top level technology, together with company crea-tiveness, design and know-how, gained over decades of experience in the sector, has enabled it to develop equip-ment based on the concept of Total Quality, capable of

At the end of the wash and ther-mal disinfection cycle, the objects will have reached a high standard of cleanliness, together with a substantial reduction in the mi-crobial load, and a significant log reduction LOG) of micro-organ-isms.

Constant monitoring of the “bio burden” enables the effective-ness of the disinfection and its development over time to be as-sessed.

The thermo-chemical energy pro-duced by the solution diluted in hot water gives a thermal disin-fectant effect, which attacks the micro-organisms in two different ways to weaken their resistance.

The equipment in the Eurowash-er XL line is tested in compliance with the reference standard and with the connected standards to assess the quality of disinfection.

Disinfection

Automatic washingThe automatic thermal disinfection process of all objects used and poten-tially contaminated in the hospital eliminates the risk of contamination, decreases washing times, reduces costs and validates the cycle. To ensure the process remains constant over time, the equipment in the Eurowasher XL line comes with devices and sensors, which enable data to be verified and confirmed, thus drastically reducing possible errors.

Following the final test scheduled in the manufacturing process, the equipment is able to monitor the parameters which fail to give constant wash results over time, such as:

Productivity Ergonomic loadingHourly productivity with the Eurowasher XL line is very high thanks to the large wash chamber and fast cycles A detailed design of the systems and careful choice of components influences the running of the thermal disinfec-tion cycles and enables times to be speeded up and produc-tion capacity to be increased.

To guarantee an ergonomic loading height, the Euro-washer XL line was designed to be installed flush with the floor.

The health operator will find it easier and safer to reach the loading levels to adequately place baskets, contain-ers, medical footwear, etc., thus reducing the risks of ac-cidents and increasing visibility and usability.

The floor-standing chamber also facilitates the loading of transport trolleys and universal trolleys, and reduces strains and risks for the operators.

The Eurowasher XL line was studied by applying the concept of eco-project design, with the objective of preserving the environment in which we live to the maximum. Thanks to innovative technical solutions and top quality components, consumption and pollutant emissions have been considerably reduced throughout the machine’s entire life cycle.

Starting from the idea of producing a piece of equipment with sustainable consumption to reduce the environmental impact, significant measurable objectives were set and achieved, which enhance the performance achieved by the Eurowasher XL line.

The validation operations make sure that the design conditions are complied with after installation. More specifically, during the sterilisation cycle the following values are checked continually: temperature, dosages of the chemical solu-tions and time. The monitored parameters guarantee the effectiveness of the process in compliance with the refer-ence standard UNI EN ISO 15883 1-2:2009.

Mass production was developed during the design stage, by studying the position of the components and main func-tional units to simplify the production stages.The repeatability of the pre-assembly and installation operations guarantees a reduction in production times and costs, which facilitates the industrialisation of the production process to achieve an end product with high qualitative standards.

A special device has been studied for the treatment cycle for “T” transport trolleys, consisting of a series of vertical collectors on both sides of the wash chamber, with au-tomatic, alternating movement, on which a series of spray nozzles are installed, fed by a high capacity pump to cover perfectly the wash and disinfection area.

A device has been studied for the treatment cycle for “C” containers, consisting of a universal shelved trolley to allow 20 containers to be loaded simultaneously from one sterilisation unit (including the fixed covers on specific racks). The trolley for each shelf is equipped with rotating arms with spray nozzles, fed by a high capacity pump to cover perfectly the wash and disinfection area.

A device has been studied for the treatment cycle “S” for medical shoes, consisting of a universal shelved trolley to allow 120 shoes to be loaded simultaneously fastened on specific racks. The trolley for each shelf is equipped with rotating arms with spray nozzles, fed by a high capacity pump to cover perfectly the wash and disinfection area.

BiosealA Central sterile services department(CSSD) envisages specific procedures, flows of material, pathways for the health per-sonnel and traceability checks which must ber carried out and complied with to be able to consider the “re-processing” of dirty instruments and their storage to be safe, clean and ster-ile. Separation of the material into different areas is a funda-mental aspect and protected areas must be dedicated with major access restrictions and construction solutions aiming to keep environments separate so they cannot be polluted. An-gelantoni Life Science has introduced a physical barrier inside its thermal disinfectors for trolleys between the dirty area and the clean area, which prevents the risk of contamination. The Bioseal guarantees the sectors are completely separate, the internal barrier consists of a AISI 304 stainless steel structure aligned with the wall and sealed, which ensures the pressure difference between the two areas is maintained.

The universal trolley was designed to enable the washing and disinfection of containers, medical shoes, basins or plastic containers, which require specific racks.

The automatic loading or unloading device for floor standing installation. It automatically takes the trolley from the loading area inside the wash chamber and automatically unloads it at the end of the wash and disinfection cycle.

The lifting platform is a device designed for equip-ment the same height as the chamber not on floor level. The device takes the trolley from ground level to the loading and unloading height.
