the Venice
Simplon-Orient-Express is
the superb service you will
receive. Each member of
our team—train manager,
stewards, chefs, waiters and
bar staff—is committed to
creating the best possible
experience from the
moment you board the
legendary train. One of our
devoted staff is Head Chef
Christian Bodiguel (above

us for 30 years. Indeed, his
sublime cuisine is an
unforgettable part of your
journey. Using fresh
ingredients, many sourced
along the route, Christian
creates dishes that combine

in your memory long after
the favours have vanished.
Our team is dedicated to making your time on board as special as possible.

BLACK YELLOW MAGENTA CYAN
The craftsmanship of the train carriages is
astounding. Each original, 1920s car has
been carefully restored and has its very own
distinct character.
Glance around and your eyes will naturally
dwell on exquisite touches such as ornate
marquetry with delicate foral patterns by Art
Deco master René Prou, elaborately engraved
glass panels by René Lalique, black lacquer panels
decorated in Oriental style, silk lampshades,
bespoke porcelain… all of which combine to
create a sensation of unashamed vintage luxury.
Each of the original 1920s cars has played
an important role in luxury train travel.

FINE DINING There are three
Restaurant Cars to choose
from: the foral marquetry of
“Etoile du Nord”, the Lalique
glass panels of “Côte d’Azur”
or the exotic black lacquer
of “L’Oriental”. Tables are
dressed in fne white linen,
fresh fowers and sparkling
silver. Table d’hôte menus
are prepared by Head Chef
Christian Bodiguel and
his team. Fine wines and
champagnes are available
at an additional cost. Please
notify us of any dietary
requirements when booking.
THE BAR CAR offers a
glamorous setting for aperitifs
and nightcaps before or after
dinner. As well as the buzz of
happy guests chatting, you
can listen to our resident
pianist on the baby grand.
DRESS CODE One thing is
certain: you can never be
overdressed. Many gentlemen
choose to wear black tie
for dinner while ladies don
elegant cocktail dresses.
At the least, we ask gentlemen
to wear a jacket and tie for
dinner. During the day, smart-
casual is the norm, excluding
jeans and sport shoes.
THE BOUTIQUE offers
an array of exclusive
monogrammed gifts—a unique
memento of your journey.

To enjoy additional comfort and extra space,
why not reserve a Cabin Suite formed of two
interconnecting Double Cabins? You can keep one
cabin as a living area and use the upper and lower
berths in the other cabin for sleeping.
Our Double Cabins feature upper and lower berths
while Single Cabins have one lower berth. Crisp

Istanbul combines East and West, old and new, like no other city: silks and spices are
piled high in the Grand Bazaar as the ululating cry of the muezzin rings out over streets lined
with slick bars. Nibble on fragrant Turkish delight while the sun beats down on the Blue Mosque and fshermen cast their
lines into the Bosphorus.

Two vast cities, Buda and Pest, join across the River Danube to form the Hungarian capital. Built on a series of geothermal springs, the city is
a renowned spa-lovers’ paradise. It is also famed for its café culture: sample a slice of Dobos torte at Café Gerbeaud,
the oldest coffee house in the city.
S T O C K H O L M
Spread over 14 islands, the historic Swedish capital offers a breath of fresh air—
not just for its breezy position but for its forward-thinking attitude. Explore magnifcent buildings
such as the Royal Palace and City Hall, the fashionable boutiques of Norrmalm or the
natural attractions of Djurgården, and discover cool bars on every corner.

Italy’s foating city has inspired a thousand poets and artists, from Byron to Canaletto. Just as they
were, be inspired by the exceptional delights that await you at every turn, from world-famous
sights—the Grand Canal, Rialto Bridges and St Mark’s Square with the Basilica—to pretty
little canals and charming piazzas.
P R A G U E
With its blend of baroque, Renaissance, Art Nouveau and neoclassical architecture, quaint, winding streets bursting with history and star attractions such as the Charles Bridge and
Astronomical Clock, the Czech capital’s appeal is undeniable. Between sightseeing, make time
to sample its delicious independent beers or dine on hearty but refned fare.
V I E N N A
Grand palaces and pristine parks characterise the Austrian capital and former seat of the Hapsburg Empire—as do waltzes, opera (Mozart, Beethoven
and Strauss are former residents) and coffee houses. Stroll around the hip MuseumsQuartier, browse the boutiques on the Kohlmarkt and sup
on schnitzels, strudel and spritzers.
Clockwise, from far left: see the remarkable sights of Venice by gondola; the modern glass entrance to The Louvre museum, Paris;
Stockholm’s many islands are connected by bridges; take a tour of Prague by horse and cart; and the stunning interior of Istanbul’s Blue Mosque.

From supporting Venice in Peril to setting up an agricultural school in Peru, our philosophy is to act in an ethical
manner and to support initiatives that help local people in the environments in which we operate.
A COMMUNITY SPIRIT
elmond is committed to responsible tourism:
we place great emphasis on supporting local
communities and establishing sustainable
practices wherever our trains and cruises operate.
We strive to exert a positive infuence on the lives of
local inhabitants and to protect sites of global cultural
importance. Whether working with community food
projects, or helping to protect animal species, we aim to
assist in ways appropriate to each location.
The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express has long
supported Venice in Peril, raising funds for projects such
as the restoration of architectural treasures. In Myanmar,
where we operate two river cruisers—Belmond Road To
Mandalay and Belmond Orcaella—we have supported
the construction of schools and medical centres and
furnished them with equipment. In Peru, where we run
the Belmond Hiram Bingham train, we have instigated
an agricultural and animal husbandry school and
support local farmers with fair trade purchasing. We
constantly seek ways to engage and help.
