1.What’s PES?• It’s an experience of active

citizens• It’s “I”, a PROTAGONIST• Young people giving 100%,

working between them and with the adults

• WE don’t accept to be “another brick” in the wall between generations, we fight to break it down

• WE keep ourselves busy with teaching others what a real citizen is

• We're in the centre of the changes which happen in the student’s relationships

• WE give our contribute for a better school education by asking an open Europe and updating

• WE are social volunteers because giving a part of us to the others is pure happiness

• It’s very important knowing and respecting the “Human Rights” and always be informed of what happens nowadays

• It’s essential to be keep in touch and collaborate with European Institutions

•It’s living a growing friendship which is self knowledge…and a change of a life time..

2.How PES was born and where can you find it

• It was born in 2006• It’s a non political association of culture• It’s residence is in Padova, Marchesi High school• It can be found in Veneto, Friuli, Emilia Romagna• It’s the result of an idea born in an European campus of

Students, at Treviso• There were 40 members at the beginning• Today there are laboratories in 20 schools

3.Our goals to achieveGet back the lost

“politeia” (H.Arendt) through a new, responsible

and mature relationship with Institutions Knock down the wall of

Scepticism and make young peoplebe socially responsible

Promote solutions to conflictswith positive examples

of commitment and self change

Make our companions understand how happy can a person be when

giving himself to others. Bring school and Europe together by creating

“bridges” and “roads” of knowledge and integration.

Promote the knowledge of Europe thorough

the students Themselves.

Knock down the nowadays political prejudices,

especially the ones of the students and make them

protagonists as active citizens.

Change the world by improving ourselves

and fighting for the application of human rights.

Page 7: Europe me2

4.MethodPeer education: laboratories are coordinated by students

in the last years of high school or who go to university

Young people from the last years of high school are the protagonists of their

own education through:

Do to understand :you can learn only throughexperience and what you learn is checked with

concrete actions .

Interactive method:Positive feedback with tutors.

Voluntary service in collaborationswith he associations on the

territory.

1.Study of the problems;

2.Discussion and debate;

3.Identify a concreteaction;

4. Constant checkof the results;

5.Sharing our experiences with our school mates

Learning while doing: true knowledge through facts and journeys, life experience and debate

with humanity witnesses.

Page 8: Europe me2

5.OrganizationPES is

composed by:

The Executive: runs, coordinates, carriesout the decisions of the Assembly, promotes

and organizes the activities.

A Partner’s Assembly whichdecides the guiding lines

of the activities.

A scientific committee: supplies thescientific and institutional contribution

The Senate: represents the institutionalcontinuity between “old” members going

to university and new ones

Laboratories in different high schools, which are the pulsing heart of the Association

Page 9: Europe me2

6.The 2009/2010 project

The Junior Tutor Course

teaches 30 students how to make their school mates

become one of us.

The educational voyages at the European Parliament, at

ONU (Geneva), at the Council of Europe, at the

European Court of Human Rights, establish a free of prejudices relationship,

which is responsible towards politics

The plenary sessions have the

purpose of checking and organizing the activities: they take place in significant

places as the Meeting Room in the

Monfalcone’s town hall.

The laboratories of the different schools are PES’ heart: they allow us to study the Human Rights, be protagonists and change our society concrete commitment in

voluntary service.

The vacations study (an example was at Prague) allow us be

become real friends( PES is first of all a group of friends who try to be good

citizens) and to learn a lot and feel in the centre of Europe’s

history.

The educational voyages and seminars in locations with important historical and artistic significance, allow us to learn while

experiencing because “a voyage means mor than

one hundred books”(Confucio).

Gjioni Suela; Kadidja Konate; Marco Bincoletto; Fabbian Silvia (secretary), Muntean Pavel (secretary)

It’s tasks are carrying out the decisions of the assembly.

Each member is involved by his own choice and is committed in a responsible way.

Page 11: Europe me2

The Human Rights :are the basic need of men’s heart. A true citizens always considers them.

Active citizens: rebuilding the “lost politeia”, recognizing that we all have the same need and we’ll make it true together.

Young people’s protagonism: if I’m a protagonist, something good is about to happen. One cannot be happy if we don’t fight together for our wishes to come true.

Integration as “United in diversity” is much easier if we consider ourselves united by our needs, ideals and purposes.

Intercultural dialogue between different generations: dialogue, as Socrates thought us, is where the “I” starts living, connected with others. The dialogue between cultures and different generations (education) it’s what builds civilization.

The method: PES is a learning and behavioural method. As it is founded on an ethic of responsibility , it teaches the difficult “job of living” together like protagonist citizens.

Knowledge and competences: we truly want to build an Europe of knowledge (Lisbon’s strategy), of self knowledge (as Leopardi says:” A man is not a man if he doesn’t experience his own humanity”) and knowledge of reality (as Dante says: “become an expert of the world by following the virtues and knowledge”)

A lively and interactive school: a formal, old, unidirectional school is not enough. School must be an experience of knowledge, situational capacity, problem solving and ability to orientate yourself( “White book of Delores”)

Secondo me, la nostra attività è

un’arte, è la più alta forma del filosofare, è la verità che c’è dentro di noi e che dobbiamo fare uscire da tutti. E’ una meraviglia. Grazie di cuore a tutti i partecipanti. Ho imparato da ognuno qualcosa”. (Laura Voinea, 5C

Scalcerle)
