During the project meeting in Gemlik we worked in mixed groups of European students on the question:

How will the future of Europe look like in 20 years?

Each group developed two scenarios: the IDEAL future and - presumably - REAL future.

Page 2: Europe in 20 years ideal and real

Group 1:

The ideal future:

More respect between the different cultures.

Tolerance between the people in the EU.

Every country should help every country.

The population should be increased for a younger society.

European countries should use only one currency.

European countries solve the economy problems, so anyone will find a job.

The real future:

In the European Union will be reach and poor countries.

There will still be a economic crisis in European countries.

European countries have unemployment because of the bad economy.

Thereis no connection between the generations.

Moral values such as respect, tolerance, love ... have been disappeared

Group 2:

The ideal future:•We can live in the space.

•No more wars.

•Everybody can go to school

•Less pollution.

•More equality between people.

•Better health.

•No more poverty and homelessness.

No prejudices. The real future:

•Not so much jobs.

•Everybody works with computers.

•Better buildings.

•Modern lifestyle.

•Finding cure for all diseases.

•Better technologies.

•Less nature / more pollution.

Lower salary and everything is more expensive.

Real:•Expanded.

•Not enough tolerance for different cultures.

•Balanced financial situation.

•Social classes are changing: Inhabitants still have financial problems, so middle class doesn’t exist anymore (not in every country).

•Rising export and import (Consequently, there will be a policy of trust).

Countries participate in a selfish way to develope, but they still don’t respect each other.

Ideal:•Open- minded people (tolerance, respect, freedom of thoughts)

•Working economy, that means living in a welfare state.

•No social gaps.

•Jobs for everybody True social and financial balanced situation.

•The economic idea of Marx will be successful, but not including the social controversy.

•Freedom / Peace.
