The MEDEA+ cluster focuses on enabling technologies for the information society and aims to improve Europe’s position as a leader in microelectronics, thereby strongly contributing to the creation of more and higher added-value jobs.
The project enables the detection of the slightest traces of genetically modified ingredients in baby foods to enable consumers to make an informed choice.

DNA-based test using early cell mutation to detect cancer
Participants: Germany, Norway
Budget: 1.2 m€
Timescale: 2000-2002
The new DNA-based test aims to identify patients with curable pre-cancerous cells in the colon, rectum and pancreas.
The new test, which takes less than two hours, is now used by Norway's public health service.
