This project is aimed at young people aged be-tween 15 and 18 years who are looking for an ap-prenticeship position, helping them to make car-eer choices based on labour market information, identifying competences they already have, intro-ducing them to non-traditional occupations and preparing them for vocational education and train-ing and for taking up an (inclusive) apprenticeship in a company or at a supra-company training centre.

Meine Chance – Handel und Tourismus

The main aim of this project is to support job-seeking women aged 18 and over back to work. This involves a counselling and assistance pro-cess ("clearing") in which options in the labour market, competences and the participants’ state of health are examined, measures enhancing per-sonal development, equine-assisted leadership training, new skills for trade and tourism, German and English language training for trade and tour-ism, IT basics and new technologies, a work placement and a transfer module.

Meine neue Perspektive in Jennersdorf

This project aims at getting job-seeking women aged 35 and over (back) into work. To achieve this aim, a counselling and assistance process ("clearing") is set up, dealing with options in the labour market, competences and the participants’ state of health, and measures enhancing personal development, social pedagogical coaching, Ger-man language training, training in IT basics and new technologies, training as a catering and hos-pitality assistant, a work placement and a transfer module are organised.

Überbetriebliche Lehrausbildung

The target group of this project comprises people registered with the Public Employment Service Burgenland who have completed compulsory schooling, but have not been able to find a suit-able apprenticeship position despite intensive placement efforts, or who have dropped out of ap-prenticeship training in a company. The training programmes organised by BFI Burgenland in vari-ous districts prepare participants for completing an apprenticeship in plumbing and heating engin-eering and building technology, wood technology, mechatronics, metal technology or metalworking.

This project is aimed at adults granted asylum or subsidiary protection who reside in Lower Austria. In the context of the project they can improve their German language skills. The aim of this Upper Austrian project is to im-prove the participants’ basic skills. Delivered in small learning groups, the project draws on the everyday experience of the participants. The needs of the learners determine the pace of learn-ing, the selection of topics and the level of diffi-culty of the assignments. Basic skills may be ac-quired or built on without time pressure and con-nected to the participants’ daily lives.

This project is about assisting care workers and other caregivers, especially in coping with demen-tia sufferers. One aim is to provide online and blended learning materials on this topic. Another aim is to give the subject more attention in carer training. A special focus is on carers who want to work in home care, as they act as multipliers. In addition, the project results should contribute to improving the situation of older people in need of care and provide essential support for their rela-tives.

This project is designed to raise the awareness of health care experts for the importance of intercul-tural competences and to equip them with these competences in a non-formal way. Intercultural competences are seen as a part of professional health care services that contributes significantly to patient satisfaction, successful treatment and the prevention of disease, and promotes physical and mental well-being. The project targets all types of health professionals (such as doctors, psychologists, midwives, health care staff and pharmacists).

Junior on the Job Coach

This project is aimed at reducing dropout rates in schools and VET and limiting their human and fi-nancial cost. More specifically, it focuses on im-proving the effectiveness and efficiency of work-related learning and teaching through job coach-ing. A framework describing necessary key com-petences is being developed as a basis for a training programme for job coaches, whose task it is to support vulnerable young people. At the same time, the project helps employers provide traineeships and apprenticeships.

A major goal in this project, especially for the Bul-garian lead partner, is to strengthen and improve the competences of trainers in companies. Key activities are developing and testing a curriculum for training future trainers and creating and utilis-ing an internet-based platform for trainers and companies that take on apprentices. Besides, training programmes based on the dual VET prin-ciple are to be developed for skilled trades jobs in construction, the wood / furniture industry, metal technology, tourism and ICT, and a future search conference on the topic of dual vocational educa-tion and training as a new opportunity for com-panies and young people is to be organised.

This project targets refugees (minors and young adults aged between 18 and 25) who have ap-plied for asylum or have been granted subsidiary protection or asylum. It is the largest VET project for young refugees in the province of Salzburg and includes vocational orientation, preparation and education and training. The aim is to give young refugees the opportunity to take up appren-ticeship training and enter the job market. Participants who have completed compulsory schooling or who have a very good command of German can acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the metal, wood, catering and hospitality industries and in retail trade. In cases of outstanding achievement, learning outcomes may be credited towards the first year of appren-ticeship in the respective trades. Training is delivered five days a week, comprises approx. 38 hours per week and consists of four days of practical instruction (at St. Gilgen and in the city of Salzburg) and one day of teaching the-ory (at BFI Salzburg). Throughout it is accompan-ied by social pedagogical counselling.

This project offers the opportunity to get an ap-prenticeship qualification in the following roles / trades: office administrator, logistics operative, re-tail sales, metal technology (with a focus on weld-ing technology), waiter / waitress, cook / chef and large goods vehicle driver / passenger transport driver – bus, coach. This list may be added to as required. Following an initial interview, job-related know-ledge, skills and competences are recorded in a portfolio and assessed in a first qualification check. Subsequently, specific training is provided to fill any knowledge or skills gaps. Finally, the Apprenticeship Office of the Salzburg Economic Chamber conducts a second qualification check to evaluate the success of the upskilling. If the qualification requirements are met, an apprentice-ship certificate is issued.

This project is specially geared to young people who need to catch up on basic, social and per-sonal skills. The aim is to promote individual growth and to help participants prepare for voca-tional education and training or continue their schooling. The project is implemented at two BFI training venues in the province of Styria, Spielberg (Mur-tal) and Murau. It consists of three modules: get-ting started, orientation and training and special-isation, and rests on four pillars: practical training (with a focus on woodwork, administration and of-fice work), coaching, skills workshops (for acquir-ing basic, IT and life skills) and sports.

WORKPLACEMENT VI Berufspraktikum im Ausland

In this mobility project, students in commercial schools run by BFI Vienna have the opportunity to do a three-week work placement in companies in Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia during their school holidays. A total of 45 persons are scheduled to take part in the project. The goal is to boost personal development, employability and participation in the European labour market. The students are specifically prepared for their stay abroad, also with regard to the languages spoken there. On returning from their placement they will receive the Europass Mobility document.
