Dear Friends, Greetings from all of us for a happy Diwali & festival season. It is with utmost satisfaction that NZUSI at the end of my tenure as president, has seen tremendous activities in term of scientific CUE's with international faculty, be it Live operative workshop on Lap urology, Lap/Robotic urooncology or on male urinary incontinence. The organ donation/deceased donation simulation workshop & awareness programs at Jalandhar by Dr Swapan Sood, at Chandigarh & Kanpur by Dr Anil Jain had been a huge success with active co-operation of NOTTO director Dr Bimal Bhandari & Dr Anup Kumar, I congratulate all of them for their spirit of service to humanity. Our Epidemiological study of north India is progressing well with Dr Rishi Nayyar as President's Message Secretariat : Prof. (Dr.) Uttam Mete Professor of Urology, PGIMER, Chandigarh-160012 Email : [email protected]convener, hopefully we shall come out with initial results in Meerut NZUSICON. Integrations with other zone of USI, SAARC, ASEAN countries has been one of agenda of present team. I am happy to inform members that we organized NZUSI scientific/social meeting at Manila with Philippines Urology Association on 28th September, coordinated by DR S.K Pal. More than 42 members with their families were part of the Indian delegation. We also intend to call USI Zonal President /secretaries in our annual conference for better interaction and to improve quality of work, making as better global players. Active scientific interaction on social media are now norm of our society. I also feel that we need to work more on making quality urology instruments in “MAKE IN INDIA” Programme, more cohesively engage ourselves in clinical research, training & publications for academic excellence. Let's hope to have INNOVATIONS in the name of NZUSI members in near future. I must congratulate Dr Anil Elhence, Dr Subhash Yadav for leaving no stone unturned to make NZUSICON Meerut, a great success. I wish them all the best & request members to attend grand scientific /social meeting on 3th -5th November 2017. Let me also assure you that we are with the industry but some of the industry persons can not masquerade as their leaders and black mail the society by cartelization. All our members are united in our efforts for working cohesively with industry with no approval for coercive tactics, finally working for the larger cause of elevation of urological care, outcomes and spread expertise globally. I thank each and everyone for giving me this opportunity to serve you. I acknowledge the invaluable support given to me by all the members without which it would not have been possible to carry out this job. I thank my current president Dr. Anil Goyal and all the office bearers & council members for their support. I am sure you have already started preparation to reach Meerut. Our organizing secretary Dr. Subhash Yadav and the Organizing chairman Dr. Anil Elhence are working hard for the smooth conduct of the conference. After a fantastic annual event by Agra team it is the turn of Meerut team to put-up a greater show. As per the scientific content I have tried to include most of the subspecialities and will have case based discussion in most of the sessions. I am sure your active participation will make my dream comes true, the dream of a successful conference as per academic deliberations are concerened. Our zone has witnessed tremendous growth in every sphere. We are receiving quality abstracts in good number. This year also we had organized three theme based operative workshops. The first one was on on male urinary incontinence & urodynamics, the second one was on laparoscopic urology and the third one was a Masterclass in Uro-oncology and live operative international minimally invasive surgery workshop. In addition we had a successful academic tour to Manila organized by Dr. S K Pal. The team Agra deserves a pat on their back for organizing NZUSICON2016 which was the highest attended zonal event so far. As the secretary I feel this was the best way to culminate our silver jubilee year. This successful annual event was organized by Agra Urological Society under the able guidance of Dr. Madhusudan Agrawal as the Organising Chairman and young enthusiastic Dr. Vijay Bora as the organizing secretary. Huge number of delegate participation and constant presence of the delegates in the hall during all the scientific sessions speaks volumes about our members' desire to learn life-long. Last year we had few NZUSI initiatives which included Men's Health in North Zone - prospective study, Organ & body donation awareness programme, NZUSI initiative for National /international tie ups with Urological societies . Friends, we are really growing faster in every facet be it organization which include good quality abstract submission, rapidly increasing number of qualified urologists etc. The responsibilities of our office bearers have also gone up. To have a smooth transition of responsibilities we need overlapping positions in the council. To this effect I have proposed amendments to the existing rule. The proposal to the election to the Post of Secretary Elect and Treasurer Elect and ceasation of the election to the Post of Hon Secretary and Treasurer from the year 2018. The proposal was mailed to all of you and is printed in this issue. Please spend some time on this proposal and add your thoughts & suggestions . Thismodification was suggested byDr. Uttam Mete, the honorarySecretary, NZUSI. Dr. Varshneythanked Dr. NP Gupta and Dr.Rajiv Kumar for helping indrafting the proposal .
Benefits for state chapters:

2. Dr. Varshney mentioned thatthe proposal is made in the silverJubilee year of north zone, todevelop state chapters on thepattern of USI zones, which willbe celebrating its golden jubileeconference in Mumbai 2017. Healso thanked the predecessorand visionaries of USI who hadcreated zones . He also hadmentioned that current strengthof membership of NZUSI is tothe tune of 800 which is a majorachievement in last 25 years.
3. The current strength of fullmembers in various statesinclude : Punjab 35, Delhi 76,UP 91, Haryana 20, J&K 10,H P 4 , R a j a s t h a n 5 0 ,Uttarakhand 6, Chandigarh 13
4. Looking at the current strength offull members in various states itis only possible to have 4 sub-zones or state chapters . It wouldb e p r u d e n t t o i n c l u d econtiguous states with lessnumbers and start with 4 robustsub zones Viz. UP, Delhi,Rajasthan & Punjab.
UP + Uttarakhand 91+ 06= 97
Delhi = 76
Rajasthan & Haryana 50+20 =70
Punjab + J& K + HP +Chandigarh = 35+10+4+13 =62
5. All subzones must recognizeNZUSI & USI as parent bodiesand they can draft theirc o n s t i t u t i o n o n s i m i l a rprinciples. After presenting theproposal Dr. Varshney hadrequested few senior membersto express their views.

He had opinedthat NZUSI can not regulate thestate chapters. He had cited theexample of UP state chapter andhad mentioned that NZUSI is notregulating them. He wanted toknow how the constitution of U.P & Uttarakhand will beintegrated post facto. He was ofthe opinion that the statechapters should be givenindependence. Dr. Varshneytold him that we are proud thatU. P. & Uttarakhand have joinedhands and have set an examplefor other states to come forward.
