For safety reasons, construction could only take place during the summer months, (13 weeks) and required a 21-day precast concrete erection schedule (structure and envelope). With very little lay down space, deliveries were sequenced so that no trucks were standing for more than two hours. The complex geometry of the existing building required Gate Precast to create new ways of building formwork on an arch that matched the existing roof. The addition blends with the existing 1888 classic Georgian Architecture so well, it is undetectable to most who pass by. Precast concrete is the only product that could match the architectural detail, be manufactured to stringent quality tolerances, perform to demanding design criteria, and be erected within the strict schedule allowances.” Dick Thomas Vice President, Architecture SHP Leading Design

“The precast concrete panels at the new Unity Christian High School allow it to stand out in the K-12 market. One of the building’s most unique design elements is the application of the woodgrain formliner panels. Although it was left raw, the texture gives the concrete a sense of warmth that is carried throughout the building, including the interior. It is a durable and sophisticated product that really anchored the material palette. Working with the Producer early on in the planning led to a smooth and integrated design process and we look forward to our next project together.”

“The exterior of Mercy Health - West Hospital features a mosaic design of glazed thin brick with colors inspired by the local ceramics tradition as well as the natural colors and landforms of the region. Over 167,000 exterior glazed thin brick of 11 different colors and 19 different shapes have been carefully organized across the façade to create the design. The insulated pre-cast sandwich panel system with cast-in glazed thin brick was selected for the building envelope because of its unique ability to provide desired aesthetics, excellent thermal performance, and sustainability, while accommodating a tight schedule and budget.”

“We love the amazing unique design of our hospital exterior. The design was inspired by Ohio’s tradition of pottery accomplishments and achieved by a very innovative use of architectural precast concrete panels. The eye catching exterior presents a color gradient ranging from green to blue around the building. That one-of-a-kind look was produced by creatively embedding more that 160,000 pieces of glazed tiles in the precast concrete panels.”
