CAREER HISTORY

2020 to Present Senior Lecturer, Department of Communication, Faculty of Modern Languages and Communication, Universiti Putra Malaysia Course: Practice and Ethics of Financial Communication

The Practice and Ethics of Financial Communication course at the Department of Communication covers the basic concepts and principles of financial communication where ethics, interpretation, reporting, and presentation of financial and economic data are emphasized.

2016-2020 Doctor of Business Administration, The National University of Malaysia, Field of Study: Ethics in Financial Communication and Investor Relations

My research focused on analysing the influence of Shariah-compliant shares on investor’s behaviour within this fast-moving digital landscape, where millennial investors’ stock purchasing decision is influenced by the evolutions in fintech and social impact.

The findings show that millennials believe that the goals of businesses ought to have a more authentic purpose with a balanced concern for all societies’ needs and not merely driven by profit.

Shariah-compliant shares are investment governed by the requirements of Shariah law that prohibits riba (usury or interest), gharar (unnecessary or excessive risk), and maisyir (gambling or speculation). Shariah-compliant funds are also considered to be a type of socially responsible investing (SRI) which includes eschewing investments in companies that produce or sell addictive substances (like alcohol, gambling, and tobacco) and weapons in favour of seeking out companies that are engaged in social justice and environmentally sustainable.
