What is VoIP?

Voice over Internet Protocol is a technique which is used in delivery of voice communication sessions over internet

In VoIP calling, voice is first converted into digital signals or IP packets and then transferred over internet

Network Parameters





VoIP Module in ETERNITY NE

To have the functionality of VoIP in ETERNITY NE, a VoIP module must be installed in it.

Network Connection Type

Static

DHCP

PPPoE

If your network uses Static IP address scheme, select STATIC in ETERNITY NE

In Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol(DHCP), network assigns free available IP address to the system

When your network uses PPPoE addressing scheme, PPPoE server will automatically assign IP network credentials

Select Preferred WAN type i.e. Ethernet or Wireless WAN 1 or 2

Select Network connection type i.e.

Static, DHCP or PPPoE

Dynamic DNS

Dynamic DNS

Dynamic DNS means to assign one Domain Name to such host whose IP address

changed frequently

For this setup DDNS client should be installed in client network who can give

updates to globally accessible DDNS server about public IP details assigned to

router at client site

DDNS option is enabled

STUN

Simple Traversal of UDP through NATs

UDP (User Datagram Protocol) is a Network Protocol for

Transmission of Data

Program this parameter if your

ETERNITY is located behind a NAT Router

Program the STUN Server Address & port here

DHCP Server

The DHCP server manages a pool of IP addresses.

Server assigns IP addresses and IP parameters to IP devices and computers to add to its own network.

ETERNITY NE has in-built DHCP server for registering Matrix IP phones

Enable DHCP server from here

Define the total number of hosts on the network (2-48)

Program the DNS IP address here

Define the starting IP address of DHCP pool

Lease time after which IP address will be reassigned

VoIP calls can be Initiated after suitable programming of SIP Trunks

ETERNITY NE supports 2 types of SIP trunks: Peer to Peer and Proxy

Peer-to-Peer Calling

Internet TCP/IP

Making a VoIP call directly to the destination without any intervention of any mediator is called

peer-to-peer calling.

You just need to know the called party’s IP address.

Basic Settings SIP Trunks

Keep SIP ID blank for Peer – to – Peer calling

Enable SIP trunk from here

Define trunk type Peer – To – Peer for P2P calling

This parameter has two options:

Trunk and Station


If you select Trunk, then it will follow the route

incoming call as per the SIP trunk

If you select Station, then it will follow the direct landing on specified

extension

Making VoIP calls through proxy server is called proxy calling

SIP extensions we registered just previously are called as Open SIP Phones. These phones do not work as a DKP.

Matrix provides its proprietary IP phones to register as an Extended IP Phone which will work as it is a DKP

SPARSH MS is a mobile softphone client for android smartphones and iPhones for consistent in-office experience.

You can use Wi-Fi or cellular networks to connect to the system while working from office, home or travelling to any location.

There is a flexibility to reach to office users with direct extension number dialing.

Download Matrix SPARSH MS from play store if you have android device or from apple store if you have iPhone.


Configuring Matrix Extended IP Phone

Here select extended phone type as

SPARSH MS, then enter IMEI number

Matrix provides video calling facility also with VoIP calling only.

The phones we use for example

Download Matrix SPARSH M2S from play store if you have android device or from apple store if you have iPhone.

All the settings of SPARSH M2S is similar to SPARSH MS for the server settings at ETERNITY NE server end


After you install the application of SPARSH M2S; let us suppose you are using an android tablet for video calling

You will have to enter the credentials as per

the server settings (Extended phone type

settings)
