Dr. Damin Spritzer, Organist Monday, March 30, 2015, 12:15 pm Praised for “enormous sensitivity and musicianship” by the AAM Journal, Damin Spritzer has performed organ recitals from coast to coast and recently had her international performance debut at the Cathédrale Sainte-Croix d’Orléans, France in July 2014. Recently appointed as Visiting Professor of Organ at the University of Oklahoma for Fall 2014, she served with the music staff of University Park United Methodist Church, Dallas from 2009 to 2014. Dr. Bradley Welch, Organist Tuesday, March 31, 2015, 12:15 pm Dr. Welch is the 2003 First Place winner of the Dallas International Organ Competition and in demand as a recitalist, concerto soloist, and collaborative artist. Bradley Welch Plays at Broadway Baptist Church is his first recording and the first solo recording of Broadway’s Cliburn organ. Dr. Al Travis, Organist Wednesday, April 1, 2015, 12:15 pm Dr. Albert L. Travis is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Organ at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. Dr. Travis has been Organist of Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth since 1978. Currently serving as Organist and Director of Music Ministries, Dr. Travis maintains an active schedule as hymn festival leader, improvisation workshop clinician, arranger and composer. Maundy Thursday Thursday, April 2, 2015, 7:00 pm Maundy is derived from the Latin “mandatum,” or commandment, which is found as the first Latin word of John 13:34: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another.” Join us for a simple service centered on meditation by pastor, Brent Beasley, and the sharing of communion. Good Friday Friday, April 3, 2015, 7:00 pm “Tenebrae,” the Latin word for shadows, is a custom of the early Christian church which commemorates the suffering and death of Jesus with a progressive and symbolic extinguishing of candles. This contemplative service will feature the reading of the story of the passion of Christ, choral singing, and reflections on the cross from Brent Beasley. Join Broadway at Magnolia Green for five Wednesdays in July. This is a wonderful opportunity to gather your picnic blankets or lawn chairs, your family, and friends for a fun concert in the park.
