Rick,  Can you tell me if this is happening?

1. Did they get blinds for the windows facing the playground?  I recently realized that there were no blinds included in the furniture packet that I got with the plan of the new space, and we did specifically ask for blinds both to block distractions and to protect the books from sunlight.

 2. Three bulletin boards and one white board, all wall‐mounted move from current library?

Good Morning.  I know that this email comes late in game, but after seeing the furniture dimensions and details, the classroom teachers have some concerns.  Concerns include:    tables will not be big enough for 6 students.  Our hope was for 6 ft x 3 ft. which is what many of our rooms have now.  We know kindergarten have 5 foot tables and our kids and chairs are considerably bigger.    Is there a plan to add drawers?  That was a big point of emphasis with us moving to tables.    The second grade team would like 5 tables instead of the 4 tables and 4 triangle desks if possible.    First grade would still like to do 4 tables with 4 triangles if we get the 6x3 tables.  If not, 5 tables please.   Is it possible for first grade teachers to get all first grade size (14")chairs and 2nd grade teachers to get all 2nd grade size (16") chairs?   We know that a lot of time and work has gone into all of this and we appreciate that!  Thanks for considering and feel free to give myself or Michelle a call with any questions.    Thank you, Becky Confidentiality Notice: This message and any attachment thereto is for the sole use of the intended recipient(s), and is covered by the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (18 USC 2510 et seq). It may contain information that is confidential and legally privileged within the meaning of applicable law. Any unauthorized review, use, disclosure or distribution is prohibited. If you are not the intended recipient, please contact the sender by reply email and destroy all copies of the original message.

Todd Here is the most updated list THAT WE PLAN TO FINALIZE LATER TODAY! It is not the final draft for ordering. Can you review the file for 1) accuracy in count, 2) accuracy in pricing/totals by line item and 3) a projected classroom layouts with the included scope. Hopefully you have a furniture drawing that would allow the deletion of particular items, if not, we could simply “x” those items out. Trying to not overlook any pieces or parts. We are into the minutia of the order. Thanks. RJ

Good morning!  I'm looking forward to working with you this summer concerning your recent furniture bid.  After meeting this week with Mr. Johnson and Mr. Powers it's been discussed to research a few items:  (1)  I would like to meet with you concerning your office furniture along with furniture going into your Director of Facilities office to come up with a plan that might better suit your needs and style.  Please let me know when you might be available week of March 23rd.  Thanks!  (2)  I've been given a very nice drawing that Jacob Beinborn put together for the music area concerning cabinet shelving.  Apparently options would like to be reviewed and considered to accommodate your needs at a lesser cost. (I recently did something similar at Stratton Elem in Unit 4 that was installed by us and looks great)  Actually what I need are more dimensions to have our music casework manufacture price or if room available for field check allow me to measure.  Each individual cabinet width, depth, and height needed.  Overall dimension from wall to wall also requested.  Thanks.  (3)  In reference to classroom tables I'm pleased to see that you have requested 36" x 72" tables in lieu of the originally specified 30" x 60".  There is also a request for tables to have storage for individual students which I've shared at the meeting that "book box" type storage, "wire rack" type storage, or slide out "tote tray" storage is available.  Obviously all of these componets come with a cost and cost to attach to tables.  Do you have a preference to type of storage?  Typically tables will need to be set up with three students on each side in lieu of two on each side with one at each end due to clearances.    We can discuss any of these options at a meeting however the tote tray options is requiring a lot of time in finding proper size with slides that attach to underside of top so would appreciate kinda knowing which direction you might be most interested……………  Thanks, Tom Toney Illini Supply Inc cell:  217 201‐6425

We hope to have this finalized by Tuesday next week. We can discuss this at the 28th meeting. Also, I see a fee attached to the spreadsheet you attached. I thought that the furniture bid was included in the overall project this time. We have not factored this fee into the overall project costs. Please share the communication that indicated otherwise. Change Order for April 2 As I reviewed closely with Michael H this morning on the line items for the most recent change order we will take to the Board, there were some items I thought needed clarity we discussed.

Looks like everybody gets a markup since B-R gets a 5% on all sub changes AND they take a 10% fee markup on all their own work (hidden in the breakdown and not on the summary sheet)

We had to add a receptacle in the Kiln room for the envirolink kiln fan. I remember Michael M telling me there would be no changes to the layout of the room when we purchased the kiln and his recommended add-ons

We agreed to move from 4 floor outlets down to 1 since the plans were labeled incorrectly and not installed by Aladdin

o We are paying for the cutting of the concrete and allowing conduit to be placed in that area for the one outlet ($1300)

Increase in size of a store front panel (field measurements no aligned with drawings) Michael H indicated 16 hours of labor needed for installing studding for Board room. Switching the east/west

walls. This is a matter of knocking out a handful of installed studs and replacing on one wall. The other wall simply adding some vertical bracing.

I didn’t see a deduct for the materials in D102 office area. Seemed as though $2000+ for flooring increase when all we did was remove a wall seemed strange.

o We requested the materials that could not be returned to be supplied to us and marked as such for our inventory.

Stevens gets a 10% add-on fee for processing of over $800 for us buying more materials from them Imperial Concrete costs of $750 since the plans did not call for an additional pour around one of the columns

I heard about the junction box issue this morning. The attached photos show the junction box and its permanent location I am assuming. Looks like we will add to our landscape budget for finishes around it. I guess given where we are with the Ameren power switch tomorrow, I see no other solution. On a good note, Aladdin absorbed the potential costs of a vault needed under the transformer once Ameren miscalculated the size of the transformer. Michael Mitchell had warned of a potential ask by them on that scope. I will be onsite today and tomorrow if you need. Will be working on the furniture overall spend. Will also get photos saved to the google drive. As per your photo on the electrical boxes and trim work at the hallway reading counters—I believe Andy told Michael that we would simply not install the side plate at those locations and then move the desk height upward when needed to adjust to the electrical boxes on other locations. Andy is out of the office today but please get a list of items that may still be on the radar screen as future costs/reductions: Items we have discussed:

Decreasing scope for fencing (Owner supplied) and labor (B-R) Decreasing scope for steps, ramping, other at soccer field

o Working on a small contract with SK Fencing to complete the addition fencing inside the courtyard and around the new generator

Switching tack board next to SmartBoard in each classroom from spec’d tack board. (would give dry erase on both sides of SmartBoard)

Windbreak wall outside main entrance Replacing doors in multipurpose room and assistant principal office with store front panel to address constant

leaks of current conditions Create a mound in one of the grassy areas on playground

Item we have not discussed:

Existing trash housing is not functional. Do the plans call for any reconfiguration? Wall to hide the HVAC on the roof above Area A.

I realize this is a long winded email, let me know if you have additions or questions. Rick

Todd Made one potential change for Wendy to work with this week. Added two racks of 84 chairs for gym area. The limit is the $350K the BoE approved with the contract with Illini. She will be forced to stay within that number. I revisited the idea of fewer chairs and the staff has reinterated the need for those in the classroom space. I will let her decide where to shorten that list. As a benchmark, I place $5,000 in for music storage and $75 per tote under the desk. We will see where that goes. RJ

Good morning.    We have been anxiously awaiting final count on requested table sizes and count along with any that are being deleted from project.  We are with the understanding that 540 tote trays are requested and we are attempting to stay within stated budget but until we know table count (larger size than originally quoted, quantity increase, and additional frieght/labor cost) it's tough for us to put a final price on changes.  We also need clarification of following:  (1) Room dimensions and/or cabinet dimensions of requested music shelving for our supplier to quote.  (2) Final count of required library bookstacks with some firm dimensions concerning these stack.  Seems to be a discrepancy on count of starter/adder between specifications, drawing, and bid form (which we were instructed to use as our count).  Please clarify.  (3) Confirm that color/finishes are approved as per our bid and powerpoint illustrations.  (4)  I also would like to review with Mrs Starwalt her office along with asst principal and director of facilities as we have designed a new more traditional office space for all three (at same cost as originally quoted) for her approval.  I realize that Mahomet‐Seymour is on spring break and some answers a little difficult to answer so I've scheduled to visit mahomet next Monday March 26th to hopefully review before I leave the state for a week.  Thanks for everyones patience, Tom Toney Illini Supply Inc 217 201‐6425  Confidentiality Notice: This message and any attachment thereto is for the sole use of the intended recipient(s), and is covered by the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (18 USC 2510 et seq). It may contain information that is confidential and legally privileged within the meaning of applicable law. Any unauthorized review, use, disclosure or distribution is prohibited. If you are not the intended recipient, please contact the sender by reply email and destroy all copies of the original message.

They will not want the under table storage totes to be omitted. Somehow, they will get that included in the package. Other items will need to be eliminated. If they can get the cost per unit to $58 and not order the 3 folding chair racks with this order, they are there. RJ

tables will not be big enough for 6 students.

Is it possible for first grade teachers to get all first grade size (14")chairs and 2nd grade teachers to get all 2nd grade size (16") chairs?

Good Morning Rick‐  There are a few inconsistencies in the spreadsheet mark‐up that we need to resolve before finalizing.  Also, Tom sent the following list of questions that I’m not sure the status on.  I’ll be talking with Illini in a few minutes.  Todd  We (Illini) also need clarification of following:  (1) Room dimensions and/or cabinet dimensions of requested music shelving for our supplier to quote.

Increase in size of a store front panel (field measurements no aligned with drawings)

Page 98: Estimated cost to the District for this request: $272 · RJ From: Rick Johnston Sent: Tuesday, April 3, 2018 2:50 PM To: Andy Hoef <andyh@ittnerarchitects.com> Subject: FW:

Michael H indicated 16 hours of labor needed for installing studding for Board room. Switching the east/west walls.

For clarity, the $1,175,000 fee we agreed to on the original Ittner contract is the final number too—is it not? Don’t want any surprises at the end of the project. The last time I know we had that conversation with an additional contract before we broke ground. Assuming as such but…. RJ

Rick

As always, do not reply all…..

Good afternoon: Hope this finds you all well… Attached are some photos taken today on the project. 0742 Board room back wall 0746 Lobby ceiling 0751 Music room floor prep 0762 first grade corner room finish 0767 B-R crew setting built ins on second floor classroom

I shared my thoughts today with the site project manager (Scottie) on a push for more B-R man power. It has taken longer for B-R crews to complete the lobby ceiling grid, drywall, lighting installs, sanding, and painting than they could ever anticipate. This has put them slightly behind where I believe they should be even though they feel confident and have shared as much. Their focus right now has been in the new PreK rooms and Board room. Once they get that area completed, they will return their full crews to the built-ins/cubbies in the classroom areas. As I shared with him, we are getting to the point where orchestrating moving parts toward the final push is vital. The good thing is that B-R has control over the bulk of the remaining work, which is a good thing. Status as of 4-3 (New Construction)

Aladdin is working hard with the lighting fixtures and gymnasium rough ins. Completed work in Area E. Painting and drywall finishes continue in lobby and Area A. HVAC is 85-90% complete. Plumbing is 70-75% complete—only finishes to be installed. Zdi work will begin in earnest soon and they have all the cabling pulled right now. Stark Excavating will begin work in the courtyard first and then site work as soon as the weather permits.

The furniture bid will be finalize by weeks end. We are working and will remain under the limit approved by the Board in our meeting of a not to exceed $350,000. Staff has mixed and matched solutions within the classrooms to arrive at a very strong final finish—all of which coordinate with the existing furniture in the original building. Have a great remainder of the week! Call with any questions. My very best,

Rick
