Overview
Indian public transportation system is the backbone of Indian economical growth. Current transport industry of India is contributing 5.5% in Nation’s GDP. Indian transportation sector is fueling through hydrocarbon-based products such as petrol and diesel. These resources are providing plentiful energy but with harmful gaseous emissions. The electric transportation system is an alternative solution to minimize the harmful impact on the environmental. India’s vision is to produce nearly 10 million electric vehicles including two wheelers and four wheelers by 2020. According to the Prime Minister’s vision, by 2030 India will adopt 100 percent electric vehicle transportation system. The Energy Science Society of India (ESSI) is creating awareness on renewable energies, green energies, bio-fuel & energy, energy storage science & technology, energy efficient devices & technologies, and sustainable energy. To envision this mission, Academic Institutions and Industry collaboration have to play a vital role. In this endeavor, Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM) Kancheepuram along with Energy Science Society of India (ESSI) is organizing a three days workshop on Battery technology for e-vehicles and a national level hackathon on smart innovative glove box design and recycling techniques for lithium-ion batteries. The event is supported by DST-SERB.
