PRESIDENT’S MESSAGEWelcome everyone to our 2019 shows. Your Committee have worked tirelessly to bring you a great event –we hope you enjoy your day. It is our 25th Anniversary Championship Show, so very special for our club.

Our wonderful Patrons – Brian & Esther Benson, Lee Blair and Alex McQuire have again contributed to ensure our show is a success. We couldn’t do it without them . Esther & Brian have again donated substantial cash and encouragement prizes which is just amazing! We cannot thank them enough for their ongoing support of our small club. Mrs Jessica Huber (Jolly) - (AUSTRALIA)

Jessica grew up in the dog world; her mother, Finola bred and owned the first Grand Champion Staffordshire Bull Terrier bitch in Australia.

Jess spread her wings to the Gundog ring in her early teen years and developed her own interest in English Springer Spaniels. A great deal of research saw her put in touch with her mentor, Kaye McGhie, in 2000. Jess began handling Springers for Steve and Jackie Wraith, with particular fondness for their Aust & NZ Ch BeautelleDesert Breeze.

In 2003, Kaye McGhie put her faith into a dorky teenager and sent Jess the first Springer puppy of her own. Sup Ch/Am Ch/Can Ch Fraelighte Formula One - aka Darby, went on to become one of the country’s most successful Springers of his time. Gr Ch/NZ Ch Fraelighte Fun and Games - aka MeMe, joined Darby with Jess in 2007. By 2008, Kaye had invited Jess to become a partner in the FRAELIGHTE prefix. In 2009, Jess travelled to the United States and Canada with "Darby,” where he achieved great success. Whilst there, Darby won multiple best in show awards, achieved some incredible specialty wins and sired several champion and grand champion offspring, including group and specialty winners. In Australia, Darby tallied an impressive 24 BIS and to the best of our knowledge holds the record for major Royal BOB wins. He has sired several wonderful Australian Champions, including best in show winners.

Jess co-owned with Kaye the breed record holder, "Nix" (Sup Ch Fraelighte Fantom Menace), and has co-bred Multiple Best in Show winning champions. Jess has also whelped and raised multiple champions under the Fraelighte prefix in Victoria.

As well as living in the USA and Canada, Jess has also been fortunate to have attended shows and observed the breed in the UK. Her general philosophy on the breed is that a good Springer is a good Springer, regardless of where it’s from or how it’s marked. She and Kaye successfully campaigned NZ Sup Ch/Aust Ch PeasblossomPoet (Imp UK) for Robynne and Nigel Trainor and Jess is currently growing up a young bitch that she and Kaye imported from America (with half Scandinavian breeding).

Jess also has a keen interest in Pointers, having co-owned and campaigned the world famous "Miley," NZ/Aust/Am Gr Ch Chesterhope State of T Art (Imp NZ) to many Best in Show awards and top 4 All Breeds in Australia in 2011. Jess and her partner in Pointers, Ty Atkinson, have a very successful Supreme Champion Miley son, his Best in Show winning daughter and her promising class in show winning puppies.

Professionally, Jess works as a clinical psychologist in a major Melbourne children’s hospital. She decided that seven years of study weren't enough and joined the Victorian judges training scheme in 2015! She has had the privilege of judging our breed in the USA (Sweepstakes at a major specialty), and has judged the Gundog group in many states of Australia as well as New Zealand. She is also licensed for Terriers and is currently studying Hounds.

Jess married Jonathan Huber in March 2018. Jon is the son of Howard and Heidi Huber, who are very well known for their handling and presentation of English Springer Spaniels in the USA. Jess and Jon live in the Yarra Valley in Victoria with their Springers and Pointers.

Jess is honoured to have been invited to judge the ESSAQ Championship Show. This is her first appointment in Queensland.
