ESTEVE MOGAS ACADEMIC ASSISTANT IN THE DEPARTMENT OF STRATEGY AND GENERAL MANAGEMENT

Esteve Mogas is an Academic Assistant in the Department of Strategy and General Management at ESADE and an entrepreneur. He gained a great deal of professional experience at HP, working in the high-tech sector both in Europe and the United States, holding positions in strategic marketing at divisional and regional levels in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as in commercial, marketing and sales areas in both Spain and Portugal. Esteve is an expert in digital printing technologies and in the offset and silk-screen printing and industry in both Spain in Portugal, as well as in the transformations that this sector is undergoing worldwide as a result of the introduction of new technologies.

He worked as a senior consultant for KPMG, developing business and organisation plans for various Spanish companies. Esteve began his career at the CH Werfen Group in Mexico City, specialising in information systems and management control.

He is the co-founder of a start-up specialising in the print on demand of digital content via the Internet. Similarly, he serves as a consultant for several international companies focusing on the definition, development and launching of new businesses.

He has collaborated at ESADE since 1990, and recently joined the Department of Strategy and General Management. He currently teaches the Strategy Module of the CEMS (Community of European Management Schools) International Programme Business Project, at the BI Norwegian School of Management. He is also in charge of start-up projects in MBA (Master in Business Administration), MSc (Master in Management Sciences) and BBA (Bachelor in Business Administration) programmes. Esteve is also Academic Assistant in Strategic Management/Simulation in the BBA and Global Executive MBA (GEMBA) programmes.

He is a board member of the Jesuïtes Educació Foundation, which groups together Jesuit nursery, primary and secondary schools in Catalonia.

ISA MOLL LECTURER IN THE DEPARTMENT OF MARKETING MANAGEMENT

Isa Moll completed her PhD degree in Management (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, 2006) and holds an MBA (ESADE), a CEMS Master (Universität St. Gallen) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (ESADE). She has also been accredited as a professor by ANECA.

Throughout her career she has combined teaching with consulting in marketing, entrepreneurship and design management for public and private companies and institutions, among them Manpower, Sony, Novartis, etc.

She has collaborated in the publication of several books on marketing and design as well as articles and essays. She has also participated in national and international marketing and design congresses.

Dr. Moll is currently Lecturer in the Department of Marketing Management of ESADE, Senior Researcher for the Chair of Design Management, and Director of the MSc in Marketing Management Program at ESADE.

JAUME VILLANUEVA ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN THE DEPARTMENT OF STRATEGY AND GENERAL MANAGEMENT

Jaume Villanueva holds a PhD in Business Administration (University of Minnesota), a Master in Business Administration (University of Wisconsin-Madison) and a BSc in International Economics (University of Gothenburg, Sweden). He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Strategy and General Management.

Jaume’s research focuses on the processes that underlie the creation and development of new ventures. His research examines the role that interpersonal factors such as power, social influence or persuasive communication play in key entrepreneurial activities, especially in the identification of opportunities and the mobilisation of external resources. In his current research, he examines how storytelling, as a pitching strategy, influences the decisions of early-stage investors. His research also examines how patterns of power-dependence with external parties affect the resource mobilisation efforts of new ventures (published in the Journal of Business Venturing, 2012), how the tension between self and collective interests shape the entrepreneurial process (published in the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, 2007) and how the goals of key stakeholders affect the governance of family firms (published in Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, 2009).

Before returning to academia, Jaume worked in international business development for a number of multinational firms in Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. He was the co-founder of Fluent Systems, a precision agriculture start-up based in Wisconsin, and has been the recipient of multiple entrepreneurship awards.

LUCA DEL VIVA ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL

Luca Del Viva holds a PhD in Management (University of Pisa, Italy). He is currently an Assistant Professor of Finance in the Department of Financial Management and Control at ESADE.

His past and current research focuses on the impact of banking regulation in preserving financial stability, financial system and sovereign credit risk, credit risk and the role of information ambiguity in asset pricing.

His recent research focuses on the evaluation of the new banking regulation in preventing banking crisis (published in Journal of Banking and Finance and in Annal of Finance) and on the examination of the effect of incomplete information and idiosyncratic risk in asset pricing.

Additionally, in separate projects, he attempts to study the interconnection between the financial system and the sovereign credit risk, the effects of the countercyclical banking capital requirements and empirically tests the validity of structural models of credit risk.

Luca is an ad hoc referee for the Journal of Financial Intermediation, the Journal of Banking and Finance and International Finance.
