Voorgeschiedenis (2007-2008)

Conclusie denktank (oktober 2007):“There is a need for the organisation of a

European conference on the role of voluntary organisations in the field of heritage. This conference should give innovative tools and inspiring examples to heritage NGOs throughout Europe to help them to increase the recognition and the quality of their work.”

Support to projects initiated by civil society organisations

• The aim of this measure is to support concrete projects of civil society organisations from different participating countries. A variety of organisations, established at local, regional, national or European level, can be involved. These projects should raise awareness on issues of European interest and on concrete solutions that can be found through cooperation or coordination at European level.

• Maximal duration 12 months

• The grant requested in that case may not exceed 60 % of the eligible costs of the action concerned. The maximum grant is EUR 55 000. The minimum grant eligible is EUR 10 000.

Doelstellingen van de conferentie

• Support voluntary activities in Europe

• Share information on ways to improve the quality of work done

• Claim a more visible position on a European level

• Exchange information, knowledge and create networks and theme-based joint-ventures

• Promote intercultural dialogue

• Spread the content of the CoE Framework Convention on the value of cultural heritage for society (Faro, 2005)

Doelstellingen van de conferentie (2)

• 135 international participants and 45 local participants will represent the diversity of the European civil society for heritage

• NGOs from at least 25 European countries• Stimulate smaller NGOs to be present• Focus on bringing people together and on

exchanging ideas and experiences

• A strenghtened network of civil society organizations active in the field of heritage

• A long term strategy on exchanging people and information in this European network

• A new impulse for civil society action in the broad field of heritage in Europe
