BEGIN YOUR ENTREPRENUER GOALS BY TURNING IMPOSSIBLE TO: I’M POSSIBLE!

Attitude is Everything. When I speak publicly, I often ask how many people believe in the power of writtengoals. Every hand shoots up. Yet when I ask how many of them have written goals for THIS YEAR, veryfew hands go up.

This always surprises me, given the fact most people know intuitively (and research has proved) that thosewho write their goals down accomplish SIGNIFICANTLY more than those who do not write their goals.

Some of this, I suppose, is just inertia. But from years as a corporate executive and now as a mentor,coach, and occasional consultant, I know that most people have just never been taught HOW to writeeffective goals.

With that in mind, I wanted to offer a basic goal-setting primer. You can find plenty of advice online, but Ibelieve S.M.A.R.T goal setting helps with making goals easier especially if you’ve never written goalsbefore:

What are your S.M.A.R.T goals?

Specific. What will the goal(s) accomplish? How and why will you accomplish them?

Measurable. What will the goal(s) accomplish? How and why will you accomplish them?

Attainable. Is it possible? Have others done it successfully? Do you have the necessaryknowledge, skills, abilities, and resources to accomplish the goal? Will meeting the goalchallenge you without defeating you?

Results-Focus. What is the reason, purpose, or benefit of accomplishing the goal? Whatis the result (not activities leading up to the result) of the goal?

Time-bound. What is the established completion date and does that completion date create a practical sense of urgency?

REVISED GOAL(S):
