Purdue Peg Board

Purpose•The Purdue pegboard aids in the selection and rehabilitation of employees for various types of work where gross movements of the fingers, hands, and arms, and fine fingertip dexterity are required.

•Assembly lines, electrician, mechanics etc….

work placement – Used in specific training programs

Content

• Client is to be seated comfortably at a normal height table

• For Right handed individuals the center cups must be arranged as follows:– Center Right Dish 20 collars– Center Left Dish 40 washers – Extreme Right/Left dishes 25 pins

• For left handed individuals the center cups must be arranged opposite of a right handed individual.

1) Purdue Pegboard Test (model # 32020)– Instruction Manual– test board– Pins, collars, washers– Score Sheets

2) Testing table

3) Stopwatch or clock that has a second hand

Sequence of Tests

1) Right hand (30 seconds)

2) Left hand (30 seconds)

3) Both Hands (30 seconds)

4) Right and Left and Both Hands

• Note this is not an actual test; it is a mathematical sum of calculations

Complete Minnesota Dexterity Test

Objective 

• To evaluate a subject’s rapid eye-hand coordination and arm-hand dexterity

Content 

• The test is comprised of 5 tests (repeated for up to four trials)

• After completing one trial the board must be re-set for the following trials. 

• The time in seconds is recorded on the score sheet for each trial.

• The final scoring is interpreted by the total seconds for all trials. 

• The subject performs all tests from a standing position

• Testing Table (28 and 32 inches in height)

• Stopwatch 

Scoring 

• Scores are recorded on the CMDT score sheet where subjects’ results can also be compared to the Quick Reference Averages provided

Epic Hand Function

Purpose:

• This instrument evaluates and quantifies an individuals perception of their functional capabilities that involve the use of handling in various ways.

• This test should take around 7-10 minutes for the evaluee to complete.

Scoring Scheme

• Sum the number of responses in each column and multiply each column by the following weighted factors:– Column #1= x 4– Column #2= x 3– Column #3= x 2– Column #4= x 1

• Next, sum each row and place each total above the diagonal lines in the corresponding RPC-1 box at the bottom left corner of the sheet (row #1= Sedentary, row #2= Light, row #3= Medium, row #4= Heavy)

Cont. Scoring

• Put row #1 in the left most RPC-1 box, row #2 in the next RPC-1 box and so on these sums are the Rating of Perceived Capacity for each level of physical demands

• The sums of these RPC-1 scores are placed in the ‘Total’ box and used as the Rating of Perceived Capacity’ score of the evaluee
