The Market Day on Saturday was a terrific community event. I parcularly enjoyed catching up with previous students and their parents who came back for a fun day. A man was looking around in awe, showing his lile boy where his classrooms were when he was at our school twenty years ago. It was a massive workload for our P and C who organised it, but it was totally worth it. Thanks to the P and C, parcularly Beth Rich and Angela Bosnjack who have been at school daily for the last month solving organisaonal problems and others like Michelle Formosa and Mel Sevan who have been working in the background. You are all legends! We have a great parent community. The Colour Run was also an epic event and our most successful fundraiser ever. What fun that was as children ran lap aſter lap, without ring and with grins from ear to ear. We sll have party days, tree planng excursions, Treehouse excursions, Year 6 Graduaon, Year 6 Farewell, Sports Presentaon and Presentaon Day. The SRC has cancelled the crazy hair and Crazy sock day originally scheduled for this Thursday because there is just too much on at the moment. Some people have asked if we could send home a list of what your children will need for next year. It is up to the individual teacher, but most things are fairly predictable. We supply exercise books for every child. We supply lead and coloured pencils for students in K-2, but many students like to have their own pencil case with pencils. We ask for things like ssues, glue scks, some liquid soap and whiteboard markers in both K-2 and Years 3-6. These are not compulsory, but in most cases, if you don’t supply them, the teacher has to buy them. Altogether, they may cost you $10 but as a school, it would cost us $7000. With the money saved, we can buy things like the whiteboards that your children will use in the classroom almost every day. We don’t have textbooks and our school fees are voluntary and less than any other school I know. It has been a privilege to lead such a wonderful school. We are different at Beresford Road. We are child centred and want learning to be meaningful and fun. We are willing to take risks and try new things that are a bit different. David Leydon will return as principal at the end of March next year. I wish everyone a happy Christmas and a safe and enjoyable holiday. See you next year.
