The Project in a nutshell
The last decade, two unexpected things happened in Europe: a financial
crisis and a significant rising of unemployment. These forced economy to a
new type of entrepreneurship, the social entrepreneurship. The social
entrepreneurship was the answer to the new needs that widely appeared.
Our project stems from the social entrepreneurship tradition but at the same
time offers a new perspective bringing together five different countries
(Austria, Portugal, Poland, UK, Greece) with different cultures and different
needs. The SE+ED project sets up collaboration between alternative
institutions (two Universities, two NGOs and an enterprise).
The aim of the project is the methodological and educational training on
social entrepreneurship. Twenty five young people, from five different
countries and institutions will participate. The social entrepreneurship is the
focus of the SE+ED project.
More specifically the main goals are:
An intensive training of young participants
Setting up a portal and a forum
A presentation of different applications of social entrepreneurship
Publishing an e-book
Uploading webinars
A dissemination of project’s result in an international conference with
broader participation
An evaluation by the young people of the project and of the
beneficiaries of social enterprise applications
A sense of community and sharing between European citizens.
The group that will participate on training will be five young people – plus a
team leader- from five different countries. The Participating organizations will
all contribute to the project schedule, either by hosting some of the actions
(preparatory meeting, conference) or during the training course. Young
people will actively participate in all actions of the project. On training
course, they will be trained on the basic idea (successful social
entrepreneurship with social return) and innovative methods.
However, they will not only benefit from new knowledge and skills. The goal is
to return the stock of knowledge in the community. They will be converted
into knowledge producers, multipliers and promoters of the project, creating
a peer-support network that goes beyond the narrow geographic limits of
their community. By the end of the project, participants may offer themselves
as multipliers or mentors. Therefore, the group that will be benefited can
actually be wider.
The final outcomes of the project will be a web portal and a forum, a series of
online courses on social entrepreneurship and an e-book.

9
Intellectual outputs
Web portal & forum
An information portal (web portal) for young entrepreneurs will be uploaded.
Also, useful information about social entrepreneurship can be found in the
communication forum of the portal. (Good communication between
partners will be discussed in preparatory meeting).
One of the biggest issues, in any project, is the communication between
participants. To ensure good communication, an electronic forum will set up
soon after the first meeting. Any participant will be able to share his thoughts
in the form of open dialogue. The forum will be part of a website that can be
used, not only, from the participants, but all those interested in the project,
young entrepreneurs, students, small companies or social enterprises. The
portal will contain: a) information on the legal regime for social
entrepreneurship in partner countries, b) networking and counseling, c) good
practices from different countries.
Webinars - Online courses
During the training course, lectures and some workshops will be recorded
digitally. Professor Dagdilelis (and any other who will offer a lecture) will be
videotaped while they will give their lectures and this material will be
available in the form of online course. Social entrepreneurship courses will be
uploaded at the portal, by the end of SE+ED project. Also, the portal will
include an interactive platform for hosting these online courses. The courses
will be in the form of recorded lectures, which will be followed by questions
and answers.
E-book
The third outcome of the project is an e-book (text with images). The first part
of the book will include information and guidance to young people
interested in social entrepreneurship. The second part will have, among
others, i) social enterprises that have been studied by the participants in each
partner country, ii) evaluation of their own implemented idea. Young people
themselves will evaluate what have they designed, along with partners'
supervisors and their beneficiaries.
To write the e-book two steps are very important: allocation and assignment
of individual tasks for each partner: collecting data for the standard
procedure of social enterprises applications. Young participants of each
country will apply: the design, implementation and evaluation. Additionally,
useful material will derive from the calendar records or the reports of the
participants on the progress of the project: citing difficulties, changes,
adaptations, ideas and whatever else they find useful.

Activities
Transnational meeting
Each partner will participate in a preparatory meeting with two participants,
preferably the appointed project manager and the contact person. The
representative can also be administrative staff or a youth worker but it is
needed for him/her to have an important role during the project because at
this meeting is important to take decisions mutually.
The agenda of the meeting:
project induction
define terms of collaboration and communication among all partners
talk through the activities and intellectual outputs
plan the training and decide the workshops or lectures each partner
can provide
schedule ahead, set a timetable/ deadlines for deliverables
The hosting organisation will be gain & sustain: europe and the meeting will
be held in Austria during December 2016. We will inform you for exact dates
and further details.
Training Course
Young people from five European countries will meet in Thessaloniki (Greece),
in March 2017, on an intensive program, that will address entrepreneurship
with social return of investment. The program focuses on the knowledge
necessary for establishing an enterprise with a social return of investment. The
duration of the training course is 5 days (32 hours total, approximately). The
program will include lectures and workshops. By the end of the program,
participants will have to be able to design a business plan and use a web tool
to achieve a successful business.
Social Entrepreneurship + EDucational practices for young people
11
The objectives of the training course are, the participants:
to acquire basic knowledge of social entrepreneurship: history, current
status, opportunities and challenges.
to learn the basic principles for establishing an enterprise with social
return of investment: from concept to implementation. To be able to
develop their own ideas.
to learn how a business plan is drawn up for a small enterprise and
ways to finance it. They will be able to create a small project for their
own enterprise.
to comprehend the role played by digital technology, and particularly
the Internet, in establishing an enterprise with social return of
investment. By the end, trainees to be able to exploit them to their
advantage.
Experienced trainers from the partner organisations will cover the 5 days of
lectures and workshops. All partners will be welcome to actively participate
for example with a small workshop or a presentation of good practices. Good
to know that all lectures will be recorded and videotaped. Some of the
material from the seminars will be used as online course material at the web
portal.
Conference
The conference basically aims at the dissemination of the project’s outputs.
As a multiplier event the organisation of the conference aims to reach out to
the local community for participation especially to young entrepreneurs or
students. During the conference there will be the chance for active
participation since young participants will have the opportunity to present
their case study project or to be involved in the conference proceedings and
arrangements. Also, part of the conference will be a reflection upon the
whole project and assessment of the project procedures, activities and
outputs.
The hosting organisation will be ECOS and the conference will be held in
Portugal probably by the end of June 2016. We will inform you for exact dates
and further details.

Budgeting
We will sign bilateral contracts between University of Macedonia
(Greece) and each partner in order to agree on budget and task
repartition. Only then we will be able to transfer you the first part of the
grant.
We will inform in detail each partner about the exact amount of the
grant to receive and how. Also, each partner will be informed for the
workdays approved.
Tips on budget
Project management cost: it’s a lump sum, 250€ per month for 12 months.
Travel and subsistence costs for the transnational meeting are calculated as
lump sum per person. Theoretically, it is possible to use the unspent money
however we want. But please keep all tickets and bills related to your travel
and stay. We will give official guidelines after the dedicated meeting with the
Agency.
Intellectual outputs staff costs: According to our National Agency we should
fill for each staff member a declaration of honor specifying their job, their
mission on the project and the work time dedicated to the intellectual output.
Also, we should write down our time schedule while we work on the
intellectual outputs. Please start from the beginning to assess your workload
and number of days through time sheets. We will be able to provide online
timesheets.
Multiplier Event - Conference: it’s a lump sum.
Training Activity: lump sum for travel cost and individual support. The training
will be held in Greece (Thessaloniki) and the host organisation will cover the
costs. You will be reimbursed for travel cost, so please keep all tickets and bills
related to your travel.
