MY EXPERIENCE

Hello everyone!

After 9 months as an intern through Erasmus Placement Program, I will confirm the rumors that is one unique experience that every student should try in their life.

I worked in a small company located in the city of Corinth, in Greece. Its activities were related to e-marketing and tourism. I found the most appropriate environment to implement my knowledge acquired through my studies in the field of marketing, develop my talent and find what I liked most.

My colleagues helped me to feel more comfortable and confront any difficulties. In addition to the work experience, the most important part for me was the development of transferable skills, including communication, self management, independence, confidence, adaptability.

A memorable experience that has marked indelibly my entire personal and work life!

A PIECE OF ADVICE…

1. Before you choose the company, be sure what kind of sector you are interested in.

2. Search, search and search again. I was searching for my company more than 3 months.

3. Take the liberty to ask any companies that you like about their activity and if they have any placements offered. If not, just ask them if they can create one for you- by mentioning all the benefits that may have! (I did the same and it worked!!!)

4. DURING your internship: Do NOT leave anyone mistreat you or treat you that you as a full time employee- you are an unexperienced trainee, willing to learn but not willing to carry demanding tasks that only an experienced employee can take over.

‘’BETTER ASK A SILLY QUESTION AND LOOK SILLY FOR ONE MINUTE THAN YOU NEVER ASK AND LOOK SILLY FOR ONE LIFE.’’

RANDOM IDEAS

1. In Greece, more companies should be informed about this program (especially in the sector of tourism and agriculture) as could be really beneficial for them in the period of crisis.

2. I wish companies that employ students should offer a kind (any kind) of reward to them, just to give an extra motivation and push to go over.

3. A forum of past erasmus placement students that will share their experiences and give advices for each country should be a priority for the European institution.
