Introduction - What is ERASMUS?

• ERASMUS is the most successful exchange programme for university students and it means European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of the University Students.

About it

• ERASMUS is an excellent programme that offers you the opportunity to live, get a higher education and work abroad. Over 3 million students from 33 countries have participated since it began in 1987.

• The satisfaction is so big that some of them just end up living there. ERASMUS promotes inter-cultural dialogue between European youngsters.

About it

• The programme can last between 3 to 12 months and students should be enrolled on the 2nd cycle at IST.

• The ERASMUS programme involves 2000 education institutions in 33 countries.

• ERASMUS programme offers a number of Mobility Scholarships but the students don’t necessarily need to have one.

• Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, France, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey, Estonia, Germany, Holland, Croatia.

About it• The number of scholarships awarded each year

depends on the EU budget availability and these scholarships are awarded by the Education Ministry, at national level.

• The scholarships awarded to ERASMUS students don’t contemplate the usual everyday expenses that a student would normally have at the home university. The scholarships awarded are, on average about, 250€ per month.

Conclusion

• With this assignment we discovered that we want to go study abroad as well and discover the world and act all sixes and sevens thru out Europe.
