Gina Hill’s life started a new chapter on November 21, 2007 when she learned that her husband, SSgt. Allen Hill, had been critically injured while serving in Iraq. Since that day, her family’s life has been dramatically altered as they face the

challenges of daily living and caring for someone with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Gina shares her family’s hopes and struggles as she has steered her family through the maze of mental illness, treatment and recovery.

Gina’s morning presentation addresses all those who journey with someone facing any kind of mental illness. While her story is unique as a military wife and mother becoming a caregiver and advocate, her experience speaks to anyone adjusting to life after diagnosis and finding the knowledge and courage to move forward.

After lunch, family members of anyone specifically dealing with PTSD will move to the Shrine’s Guild Center for an exclusive workshop, facilitated by Debbie Humphrey, R.N., B.S.N. Debbie is the Program Director of the St. Clair County Mental Health Board and has first-hand experience as a mother and caregiver to a veteran with PTSD.

“I now know that my passion in life is to help other wounded warriors and their families.”
