Hello! My name is Mar-cey Quast and I am your new facility manager. I was born and raised in Cisco, TX. I joined the USAF from 2000-2006 as a Weapons Safety and En-vironmental Inspector. I am married to John Quast and have two dogs named Miss Greta and China. My mom, Lynda

Beebe, lives with us. I have B.S. in Technical Management (HR) with a Minor in OSHA. In 2013, I received a M.S. in Environmen-tal Management from Hardin Simmons University.

Hello, my name is Heather Amigleo. I am the new Administrative Assistant to the Clergy as of July. I have worked for FUMC for a little over 2 years as a teacher with FirstKids Club. I am extremely excited to take on this new opportunity and I would love to get to know you all. Please feel free to stop in and say hello.

The first Rio Texas Annual Conference, including San Angelo and the new West Texas District, was held in Corpus Christi June 11 through 13, 2015. San Angelo’s First Church sent a full complement of Delegates, including the three clergy we were entitled to send: Sen-ior Pastor The Reverend Sam Hunnicutt, The Rev. Sheree Harris, and The Rev. David Miron. Lay Delegates included Karen Clark, Duane Hamblin, Megan and Tim Hunnicutt, Fred Key, Glenn Luhrs, and Alternate Anne Hardegree. Sitting with our group was Conference Delegate Rick Man-tooth. This impressive array of talent devoted considerable preparation time to prayers, meetings, and study of the Pre-Conference Journal and other information. This year we were seated toward the back and much less in the spotlight than last year’s front row location. All appropriately filled their responsibilities. One of the big items of interest this year was the upcoming retirement of our Bishop James Dorf. We were all impressed with the smoothness of the organization and working of the newly merged Rio Texas Conference. The setting on Corpus Christi Bay exemplified the beauty of God’s Creation as always and gave us further cause for thanks and praise.

Sunday School/Small Group settings on Sunday morning: Infants to 18 months in the Nursery under caring eyes of the Nursery staff: Britnee, Maris-sa, Ali, Kendall and Amanda. Toddlers aged 2-3 meet with Angela Middlebrooks in the small room off of the Nursery. Toddlers aged 4-5 meet with Jovan Cosper in the large room off of the Nursery. Kids Eat Free!

Feeding Neighborhood Children for FREE!

FirstChurch helped sponsor meal preparation for the summertime meals for children throughout San Angelo. FirstChurch was responsi-ble for meals served at Immanuel Baptist and Calvary Baptist Church-es. The program lasted 7 weeks-held during the weeks no summer school meals are offered. This year with the help of cooks from St. Luke’s UMC and Emman-uel Episcopal Churches, FirstChurch was able to provide over 200 meals each day (35 days). Chil-dren who nor-mally would have limited or no hot

meal for lunch were able to vis-it Im-

manuel and Calvary and eat a nutritious meal followed with planned activities sponsored by various volunteers from organizations of San Angelo. Over 8,000 children were served this summer at the 10 sites. This was the 5th year that Kids Eat Free! has been offered. The program is a part of the Texas Hunger Initiative and is directed through Baylor University. FUMC funds this program through individual donations made through the church.

All it takes is your commitment of just 30-45 minutes a week being a MENTOR to a Lincoln Middle School student. These children need a friend; someone to chat with; someone to look up to; some-one who will listen. Each semester FUMC provides mentors, who meet weekly on Fridays during lunch with their students. SEASON EIGHT BEGINS FOR THE COKESBURY CHRISTIAN SINGERS’

September begins the eighth year that the Cokesbury Christian Singers (CCS) has been taking their ministry into facilities that serve our community’s elderly brothers and sisters. The choir, sponsored by First Church’s Mature Adult Minis-tries, presents a program that consists of the great old gospel hymns, some “fun” songs along with some sing-a-long favorites from the past. The CCS, which averag-es about 25 members a performance, sings in various facilities about twice a month and during one of our church services once a month during the season – the middle of August thru June. The choir usually rehearses on Thursday after-noons from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. The choir even gets requests to sing in other local and area churches. At this writing, Miles FUMC and Glenn Meadows Baptist Church have asked to be placed on the schedule. It should be mentioned that sev-eral members of CCS attend other denominations in our community but want to participate in this ministry that brings a little of the joy of our Savior’s love and grace to those wonderful souls confined in various facilities. CCS members would like to encourage anyone who enjoys making “a loud noise unto the Lord” and would spiritually benefit from being a part of this wonderful needed ministry to come to a 2:00pm Thursday rehearsal and experience the great fellowship and spiritual gratification that comes from serving our God and Savior through the Cokesbury Christian Singers. True, this is a “mature” adult (55+) choir, but all are welcome. If this service activity is for you, just come and join the CCS or contact the director, Koste Belcheff, at 325-374-0874. The director wants to give his heart-felt appreciation and gratitude to those wonderful members of CCS who have been with him since the choir’s inception in 2008. Let’s Get Cooking!

How are you at cooking? Wednesday evening meals begin September 16. Create a team of 5-7, or more, and cook approxi-mately once a month during our Mid-week Mealtime. Ask your Sunday School class, your coffee buddies, - create a “suppertime gourmet crew” and join in an opportunity to help feed your church family. A differ-ent team will cook each week. The fre-quency will depend on how many teams sign up. Meals are for everyone...Some diners will be taking classes or rehears-

ing...others though may come and relax, enjoy their meal, and converse with other diners. Preparing food for friends is always rewarding. Won’t you try it? Sign up in FirstPlace Café or call Betsy Sadler-374-8798 or email her at [email protected].

There is also a need for volunteers willing to “dress” and bus the tables in Celebration Hall for each meal on Wednesdays. Table centerpieces and placemats are available.
