Using outside as a classroomDevelop a sense of place through

creation, use, knowledge – get them intimately connected with their world

Encouraging the use of all five senses:

Sight - Observation: data collection – and use the data in mathematicsdocumenting change over time (Climate Watch)matching colours

Sound: Music; listening as an observation; poetry; drama

Touch: Get your hands dirty – what is the difference between sand, clay and mud?What can you build with sticks, leaves, stones, clay. Weaving

Taste:Grow it, cook it, eat it.

Smell:Identify plants by their smell. What do compost/soil/wet bush/rain/thunderstorms smell like?
