As featured on The Today Show, “Fruit Tree 101” is a program that brings fruit tree orchards to schoolyards improving the quality of the air and water while creating tasty snacks.
The trees, materials, orchard installation design work, and onsite environmental curriculum with students are all donated
free of charge for the benefit of the school and its students. donations involve a 12-20 tree minimum.
Outdoor Classroom Pros vs. Cons
Pros Cons
-useful to both science and English classes - can be quite expensive
-utilizes natural light for a more stimulating environment
- can be distracting
- can be sustainable - needs consistent maintenance
-makes learning a bit more enjoyable -takes up a lot of space
-can help focus in the fresh air -has to be lasting, kids break everything
- can do more varied forms of learning/ more hands-on
-may not be easily sustainable, depending on what is involved
-aesthetically pleasing
- improves status of the school/ more varied learning
Water Feature Pros vs. Cons
Pros Cons
- It has a calming/soothing effect, & helpful to relax a bit
- It can be very distracting
- Pretty -can be quite expensive
- makes the area more interesting -these things can get dirty/ break fairly easily
-can make it from scratch, can be an interesting art project
