2. Why EnvironmentalPhilosophy, You Ask?
3. What is it? On the surface, you would think of a bunch of
old guys under a tree asking, how do we know that this leaf is
happy? But this is not the case.
4. Environmental philosophy is a branch of philosophy that is
concerned with the natural environment and humans place within it.
Environmental philosophy includes environmental ethics,
environmental aesthetics, ecofeminism and environmental
theology.
6. Environmental Ethics Environmental ethics is the part of
environmental philosophy which considers extending the traditional
boundaries of ethics from solely including humans to including the
non- human world
7. In this part of environmental philosophy, people ask the
questions we are the most familiar with, such as, Should we chop
down that tree to make currency? or What things do we need to
preserve for our future generations?
8. Environmental Aesthetics Environmental aesthetics originated
as a reaction to an emphasis on merely aesthetics, pursuing instead
the investigation of the aesthetic appreciation of natural
environments.
9. WHATS IT ALL MEAN?!?!?!?!
10. Environmental Theology Three basic views: The Creator-God
exists externally to the physical world. God exists internally in
the environment. God does not exist.
11. Ecofeminism Ecofeminism is the social movement that regards
the oppression of women and nature as interconnected. It is one of
the few movements and analyses that actually connects two
movements.
12. Ecofeminism combines the movement of womens rights with the
movement to care and preserve the Earth.
