BIODIVERSITYBiodiversity is the variety and differences among living

organisms from all sources, including terrestrial, marine, and other ecosystems.

India is one of the mega biodiversity centers in the world and has two of the world's 18 ‘biodiversity

hotspots’ located in the Western Ghats and in the Eastern Himalayas.

Oceans are likely to continue to warm for several centuries due to greenhouse concentrations which have already taken place.

melting of sea ice.

Droughts and floods in many areas.

There is a real fear among some small island inhabitants that their lands may totally disappear under water because of rising sea levels caused by global warming.
