RECREATION EVENTS & PROGRAMS EDISON TO HOST FALL FAMILY

SPECTACULAR The Edison Fall Family Spectacular is on the move. This year's festival will be held in the Clara Barton section of Edison on Saturday, September 28th. All of the action will be held along Amboy Avenue, from Jackson to Waltuma; including a full eight blocks of entertainment, exhibitors, food and merchandise vendors. Add a kid's area, carnival rides, professional wrestling, and two stages of music and you've got a great day for the whole family.

EDISON TO HOLD 9/11 REMEMBERANCE

CEREMONY Edison Township will hold a Remembrance Ceremony on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 to remember those lost 17 years ago on that infamous day. The event will take place at the Papaianni Park Memorial Fountain, 100 Municipal Blvd.

EDISON GAMBLING ON AC TRIP Edison Recreation will be offering a trip to Atlantic City on Monday, October 14th. For $20.00 you will get transportation, six hours to gamble at the Resorts Casino & Hotel and a $25.00 voucher. Space is limited. For a downloadable application, click on the above headline.

TABLE TENNIS PROGRAM FOR ADULTS—Ping Pong open play and instructions will be offered for adults beginning in October. The program will be held on Wednesdays & Thursdays at the Edison Senior Center from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. All participants must be registered community center members. The adult membership is good from January 1, 2019 - December 31, 2019, $20.00 for residents & $40.00 for non-residents.

SHORINJIRYU KARATE OFFERED It is the ultimate purpose of Shorinjiryu Karate-do to develop individuality in mind and body through the study of traditional techniques and the spirit of competition. Training is offered to children above the age of 9, teenagers and adults of Edison Township. Students are expected to attend at least (2) classes per week. Please click on the headline for details. The Recreation Department will accept applications through Friday, October 18th for the Township's 11th Annual Halloween House Decorating Contest. Judging will follow on October 23rd. TOWER OF TERROR-TRAIL OF HORROR & HARVEST FUN

Again this year, to celebrate Halloween, we will be conducting visits to the Tower of Terror/Trail of Horror and Harvest Fun on Saturday, October 19th, at the Edison Tower on Christie Street. The Harvest Fun will be held from 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Activities will include a Family Pumpkin Carving Contest, DJ Music, Pumpkin Decorating, Magic and Vendors/Exhibitors. The Trail of Horror, starting at 6:30 p.m., might be too intense for the young or timid, but very entertaining for the bold and brave. TOWNSHIP OFFERS LINE DANCING INSTRUCTIONS FOR ADULTS Line dance lessons are offered at Thomas Jefferson Middle School on Monday evenings from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Learn the latest line dances and improve on the old. Dance is a great way to exercise! All participants must be registered community center members. THE NORTH EDISON REC. WRESLTING CLUB The wrestling season is around the corner. Looking for a place to work out as a wrestler this fall?...Looking for a place to learn how to wrestle this fall?... Then the North Edison Wrestling Club (NEWC) is the place for you. Workouts are held on Mondays & Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Bishop Ahr High School. There is a minimal cost for workouts! TOWNSHIP TO OFFER WINTER MEN'S VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE FOR ADULTS Applications for the Winter Men's Volleyball League are now available at the Minnie B. Veal Community Center and the Recreation Office. EDISON TOWNSHIP YOUTH BASKETBALL (Edison Township Youth Basketball) is about to start another great season. We typically have close to 750 kids participates in the program each year. We are a recreation basketball program that has play options for boys & girls from kindergarten to high school. Do not be left out as the start of the 2019-2020 seaon is here. REGISTRATION ON TAP FOR JUNIOR TENNIS PROGAM—All children in grades K-7 are invited to participate in the Junior Tennis Program

CHINESE KUNG FU TAIJI—Taiji is one category of Qi/Gong, Gongfu. It has about 1000 years of history. It emphasizes mind and body in harmony with peace. By doing Taiji, the practitioners achieve internal strength and external beauty. Taiji quan is called "moving meditation" which is mostly the mental activity paying attention to the internal feeling to make sure that Qi flows smoothly, fluidly and reaches all parts of the body. The program will be held on Saturdays at the Senior Citizen Center located at 2963 Woodbridge Ave., Edison. NJ. For more information contact Master Wang Fenging at 973-968-5019.

RUTGERS FAMILY JUJITSU—Danzan Ryu Jujitsu is a nonaggressive form of self-defense in which the students will learn how to escape from various holds, hold an opponent on the ground, fall safely and throw an attacker. They will also grow in their leadership abilities and self-confidence. Classes are open to children from ages 7 and up and are led by Professor Barb Gessner, 7th degree black belt, who has been teaching Jujitsu for over 44 years. EDISON'S FLIPPING OVER ACROBATIC GYMNASTICS–Acrobatics is a sport with beauty and art and a combination of gymnastics, choreography and fitness. Instruction will be provided by Ms. Jun Li, World Cup Gold Medalist in the Sport of Acrobatic Gymnastics and

former member of the Chinese Acrobatic Gymnastic Team. All information can be obtained by clicking on the above headline.

EDISON SKATEBOARD PARK The Edison Skateboard Park, located opposite the Edison Municipal Complex, 100 Municipal Boulevard, Edison, has been completely renovated!! Normal operating hours are daily from 8:00 a.m. to dusk. Admission is free but it is mandated that all participants wear helmets and pads.

TOWNSHIP WELCOMES ALL YOUTH BOWLERS TO ITS FALL BOWLING PROGRAM–Edison Recreation is sponsoring a weekly bowling program for boys and girls between the ages of 5 to 14. Bowling will be held on Fridays at 4:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. at Stelton Lanes which is located at 1665 Stelton Road (approximately one mile from the Stelton Community Center). This program offers an opportunity to purchase a brand new bowling ball for $30.00 which includes professional fitting and drilling of the bowling ball for FREE! Information

"ELITE RUNNERS TRACK & FIELD CLUB"–Offers a yearly track program for children ages 6 -17. There will be 3 sessions; Cross Country, Winter Track and Spring/Summer Track. All programs by Elite Runners are sanctioned by the NJ Chapter of Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and the USA Track and Field Association (ASATF). Registration will be accepted starting September 20th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Minnie B. Veal Community Center. The registration fee is $100.00.
