Ensco’s fleet of dynamically-positioned drillships are equipped with advanced capabilities
to meet the demands of ultra-deepwater drilling in depths of up to 10,000 feet with a total
vertical drilling depth of 40,000 feet.
The vessels are based on the proprietary Samsung DP3 hull design measuring 750 feet long
and 140 feet wide* offering a payload in excess of 20,000 metric tons and a 1,250-ton hoisting
system. The rigs’ design and capabilities include numerous features that increase operating
efficiency. Primary to these capabilities are offline tubular stand building features and a 160-
ton automated heave compensating construction crane, allowing for the deployment of
subsea production equipment without interference with ongoing drilling operations.
The universal design of our DP3 drillships streamlines construction, operational functionality,
training, spare part requirements, repairs and maintenance to control costs and enhance the
overall reliability of rig operations.
