They not only show that you are a well-rounded individual and a good team-player, but also help define your individual qualities and values ... and demonstrate the desire to continue to learn and grow.”

PASSI sessions involve a range of collaborative learning activities that help students to develop important academic and employability skills such as problem solving and analysis, time management and presentation skills.

PASSI sessions are facilitated by a senior student who has performed well in the subject and has received specialised training as a Peer Leader. PASSI is available in the subjects: Quantitative Methods for Business, Managerial Economics and Accounting for Decision Making.

Learn more about PASSI and register for a group at: http://tlu.fbe.unimelb.edu.au/students/graduate/PASSI.html

In each session, students practise concepts and receive feedback. The Maths Refresher Program comprises of a two-hour session twice a week between Week Two and Week Eight of the semester. “The mentoring program offered me an opportunity to share my experiences and knowledge about studying and the Faculty’s services. It also introduced me to new friends and enhanced the joyfulness of my student life.”

Hoang Vy Le, Master of Business and Information Technology, Mentor Semester Two, 2011

“It’s good to learn from other people. If I have already learned some concepts, I will take it for granted that I know it, but in PASSI I will learn from other people when they come up with questions. PASSI is also a good opportunity to adapt to the teaching system in Australia, because in Australia people are encouraged to come up with ideas and be involved in the class, so I think it’s helpful for us to practice these skills in PASSI.” Charlotte Zheng, Master of Management (Accounting), 2011
