Case Study - Philips Electronics IndiaWhat we did firstPhilips approached enParadigm to conduct a leadership exercise to expose their mid-level managers to strategic decision making, and look at business from a cross-functional point of view. The managers were from diverse work profiles in sales, product development, quality, finance etc, with an average work experience of 15 years

What we did nextenParadigm created Talent Wars, a custom simulation, for a 'Business Strategy for HR' workshop for the Philips national HR team. The workshop was co-anchored by Prof. Bibek Banerjee from enParadigm and Yashwant Mahadik, Head HR of Philips. Participants role-played the HR team of a services company in a quest to develop a uniquely positioned employer brand and attract the right talent for the company’s business strategy, employee culture and competitive positioning in front of customers

What lies aheadIn FY 2012-13, enParadigm will conduct 8 strategy workshops for mid-level business executives in Philips across Gurgaon, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata.

The Strategic Thinking WorkshopWho it is forThe Strategic Thinking Workshop is a 1 day offering for middle to senior level managers level managers, who are the interface between the leadership and the executives of a company, and require a clear and simple understanding of strategy, to align their departmental roles with the short-term and long-term goals of a company

What problem we are solvingMiddle managers face significant challenges in responding to organizational goals and targets defined by top management, while addressing challenges that their execution team faces at the ground level. A middle manager who does not have a clear understanding of strategy, ends up directing efforts based on management buzzwords without realizing that his/her efforts are sub-optimal due to a lack of alignment with the needs of the organization.

How we solve itThe workshop provides a conceptual definition of strategy in a very simple and easy to relate manner, and follows it up with a framework for creating a strategy. Participants work on an integrated business case study and try to apply the concepts learnt and create a strategy of their own. Finally, participants are given tools which can be used to drill down the organization’s strategy down to the lowest level of execution.
