RationaleRationale

Reading was seen as a combination of lower-level process and higher-level process by researchers such as Bernhardt (1991), Chun and Plass (1997), Grellet (1981), and Swaffar, Arens and Byrnes (1991).

The Process of Reading

Page 5: Enhancing L2 Reading through Effective Use of Hypertext 李一芬 Emmie Li.

By integrating new technologies with teaching methods, improved efficiency and positive changes were found in the learning process, especially for

vocabulary acquisition (Cobb, 1999), conversation analysis (Negretti, 1990), listening comprehension (Hoven, 1999), etc.

Conclusion

A multimedia-enhanced learning programme does not adversely affect the development of language skills but in actual fact enhances the learning itself.

Students are highly motivated for the computer-assisted learning program, which is considered as the dominant factor to practice the program successfully.
