Page 16: English interview final

Example 좋은 예I first would like to thank you for giving me

the chance to meet you here. My name is Joo

Young Lee, and I'm expected to graduate

from Ewha Women's University with bache-

lor's degree in English language and litera-

ture. KITA is looking for a person who can

contribute to the international business sup-

port. I am the perfect candidate, since I

have experience of living in America for

more than four years and speak fluent Eng-

lish. The various experience that I have in in-

terpretation and participating global confer-

ences prove my linguistic abilities. I would

like to use this opportunity to describe my

potential contribution to your company.

Thank you again for having me today for this

interview.

Example - 1. Tell me about yourself.

나쁜 예My name is Joo Young Lee and I was born in

1990 in Seoul. I have one brother and I live

with my parents in Yeoksamdong. I am a

Christian and I am majoring in English lan-

guage and literature in Ewha Women's Uni-

versity. I am very excited to be here to let

you know how this company would benefit

from my working here.

Example - 2. What are your strengths and weak-nesses?

- Example 1

- Example 2

- Example 3

- Example 4

- Example 5

좋은 예Well, I think my weakness could be that I try

to do everything the right way rather than

finding an easier way to do the work. For ex-

ample, when I tutored several students Eng-

lish, I could have simply taught them how to

pick the correct answers for the test. How-

ever, I helped them memorize vocabulary

and focused more on their basic knowledge

in English. As a result, my students improved

English more dramatically in the long run. Al-

though this 'right way' usually takes longer

time, it could be more helpful than quicker

and easier ways. However, I try to overcome

this weakness since I know that sometimes

speed is the key in business. I'm a fast

learner and I am sure that I will find quicker

ways to solve problems by learning from

others in this company.

나쁜 예I think my weakness is that I don't try to find

the easy way but do everything the right way

that takes longer in most cases. I think it

would be more time efficient if I found an

easier way to do things, but due to my per-

sonality I have to always do things the longer

way. Although it is my weakness of doing ev-

erything the long way, I think it is an impor-

tant characteristic when working.

- Example 3

- Example 4

- Example 5

좋은 예Compared to other candidates who recently

graduated from college, I have a wide range

of experience working while I was in college.

From that experience, I learned how to work

as a team, and learned how to adapt to dif-

ferent situations quickly. I believe these traits

I have make me stand out among the other

candidates. I can contribute to this company

more, since I will be able to focus on the

work faster than the others, since I can adapt

to your culture more easily.

나쁜 예You should hire me because I have great

grades. As I mentioned in my resume, I have

gained scholarship for all four years through-

out college. My GPA is 3.9. I have also lived

in America where I had learned a lot of dif-

ferent things I would not have been able to

learn. My intelligence would be an asset to

your company.

Example

Example - 4. Why did you apply for this company?

- Example 1

- Example 2

- Example 3

- Example 4

- Example 5

좋은 예During my years spent in America, Korea was

hit with Asian financial crisis and had to ask

for help from the IMF. Back then, through the

news and the media in America, I had a

chance to see the position of Korea in the

world economy. I believed that in order for

Korea to survive in the global market is to

earn money outside the country by exports. I

started to look for ways where I can contrib-

ute to the Korean economy was to support

trades and especially, exports. KITA is the

best organization that supports Korean ex-

ports. I could find no better place than KITA.

나쁜 예I would really want to work at KITA. KITA is

the best company in Korea and is rising con-

tinuously.

Example

Page 20: English interview final

Example - 5. What are your goals and objectives?

- Example 1

- Example 2

- Example 3

- Example 4

- Example 5

좋은 예I'd like to start with my final goal, which is

becoming a specialist in international trade

and teach in universities based on my expe-

rience. To do so, working in this company is

crucial. Within the next 5 years, I hope to be

in the position where I can manage to have

my own international trade support team. In

order to achieve my goals, I have always

tried to stay updated in the latest interna-

tional trade issues and trends. I concentrated

on issues related with FTAs and tried to come

up with my own answers in the negotiations

which could benefit Korea to the fullest. In

short, I think I do have a clear idea of where

I'm headed for and the ways to get there.

나쁜 예My short term goal is to work for a top com-

pany like yours. In your company, I can put

my skills and the knowledge I gained from

my college into practice. My mid-term goal is

to grow within the company and be pro-

moted to a managing position. And then, my

long term goal is to start my own business

and grow to become big company in interna-

tional market.
