[ 10 marks ]SECTION C[20 marks][Time suggested : 20
minutes]Question 4Read the story about Khairul and his wife,
Ainah.
One day, a poor fisherman, Khairul, got ready for all his
fishing gear and was in high spirits as he left his house to catch
some fish for dinner. Waving at his beautiful wife, Ainah, he said,
"I will bring home the biggest fish I have ever caught for you."
Ainah nodded eagerly and her heart leapt with great
expectations. The sun was about to set and Khairul grew impatient.
He muttered to himself, "I have waited the whole day and have used
the best bait yet I have caught nothing. Ainah would be very
disappointed with me."As he finished uttering these words, he felt
a strong thud at the rod. He pulled as hard as he could and was
amazed at the sight he beheld. There loomed before him was a large
blue fish which could talk!"Please have mercy on me. Please release
me and I will grant you three wishes for the day!" the fish
pleaded.Khairul lit up when he listened to what the fish said. He
could not believe his good fortune! "Ainah would be so pleased with
me today!" he thought to himself. Within seconds, he let the fish
off its hook. In a jiffy, he hurriedly packed all his gear and soon
he set off for home.Upon reaching home, he quickly broke the good
news to his wife who was still raging mad because he did not bring
any fish home. "I waited and waited and you have brought home no
fish! I am so hungry. What should we have for dinner tonight? How I
wish I could have sausages!"Suddenly, a long sausage appeared in
front of them. Ainah was so delighted but Khairul exclaimed, "You
silly woman! Now you have wasted the first wish! How I wish the
sausage would stick to your nose!""Oh no! Oh no! What am I to do? I
can't be going everywhere with a long sausage stuck to my nose! Get
this silly thing off my nose," cried Ainah. They tried hard to pull
off the sausage but all their efforts were futile."Ainah, we have
only one wish left. I want to be rich but look at your nose,"
Khairul said.Ainah looked at her husband and said, "I don't want to
live my whole life with a sausage stuck to my nose. How I wish that
this sausage would disappear!"Like magic, the sausage vanished in a
puff of smoke from their sight. They wer so happy that they kissed
and hugged each other.
