PREPOSITIONS
Can you name the words used before the nouns ‘Tuesday’, Amir’s house’ and ‘his house’ ?
The words are ‘on’, ‘to’ and ‘at’.
‘On’ shows - time
‘To’ shows - direction
‘At’ shows - position
Other examples are - in, into, of, from, for, with, up, down, through, under, near, between, over, above, below, against, before, after, by, along, since, etc. These words are called Prepositions.
Where are you going on Tuesday ?
We are going to Amir’s house.
We are going to stay at his house.
Prepositions are usually used before nouns or pronouns. They show position, direction and time.
