Large biogas exhibition in hall 9
10 – 12 December 2019 Exhibition Center Nuremberg, NCC Mitte
With more than 4,700 members, the German Biogas Association is the largest German and European body representing the interests of the biogas sector. It represents manufacturers of biogas plants and components, planners as well agricultural and industrial biogas plant owners throughout Germany. The objective of the association’s work is to enlarge the production and use of biogas for the nationwide generati-on of electricity, heat and fuel production, to strengthen the industrial location Germany and to develop an effective climate protection.

New pathways into the futureThe issue of climate protection has at last attracted the attention of the German government. Since thousands of school children have taken to the streets every Friday in protest, calling for fast, consistent action to combat global warming, the politicians have been forced to come up with solutions.
It is obvious to everyone that this will only be possible with the help of renewable energies. And that this basi-cally means stepping up the pace of development of such sources. What is lacking is a road map.
The biogas industry is ready to help – in all sectors, right away and 24/7. The great potential and the variety of bio-gas plants for ensuring a climate-friendly energy supply is once again reflected in the programme of this year‘s BIOGAS Convention & Trade Fair.
The German programme includes dedicated panels to key topics like flexibility, biomethane and manure utilisation. Flexibility is a major strength of the biogas industry. We are the only ones who can deliver quickly and reliably – whatever the season, whatever time of day. Biogas can be stored. Either directly at the plant or upgraded into biomethane and stored in the gas grid. There is still huge potential here. Just as in the case of manure utilisation and processing. Only a quarter of the manure produced in barns and stables is digested at biogas plants. Urgent improvement is required. Digestate upgrading is another field that needs to be improved.
The international, English programme offers insights on future opportunities of biomethane innovations, success-ful incentive schemes in other European countries and successful projects in developing markets.
The political situation will no doubt be a focus of dis-cussion at the BIOGAS Convention & Trade Fair. Let us not be discouraged! Biogas remains a crucial part of the energy transition. And there is no doubt that we need this change.
I wish you many interesting discussions, plenty of new insights and, above all, courage and confidence for the tasks that await us!
Best regards,
Horst Seide

Come and visit the
In hall 9 of the Nuremberg trade fair, you can visit all kinds of compa-nies from the biogas sector from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm (Thursday until 5 pm), which means you as a visitor can meet the entire industry at one trade fair and fully concentrate on your business. Take advantage of this opportunity and get the latest information directly from the exhibitors!
Also in hall 9 you will find our BIOGAS Forum, where selected compa-nies will be presenting their products, services, projects (in German). On Thursday, 12 December we will present four innovations to our international guests (in English).
The German Biogas Association with its „Biogas-Treff“ is also in hall 9. Together with 9 of our members, our joint booth is the center of the hall and meeting point for visitors, companies, members and experts. Here you can meet German Biogas Association employees in person, discuss current and important topics and plan your visit to the BIOGAS Trade Fair 2019. We look forward to seeing you!
If you have any questions regarding the BIOGAS Trade Fair in 2021 or our next industry meeting in 2020 at the EnergyDecentral in Hanover, you can visit the booth of our co-organiser, the DLG and start planning your next presentation as an exhibitor or your future visit.

Special Workshop The participation to the DEMETER workshop is free of charge for registered participants since its costs are covered by DEMETER, a BBI-JU funded project (G.A. 720714). The number of participants is limited to 50 attendees. The entrance to the trade fair is included.
10.00 am Enzyme to improve the Biogas yield – DEMETER a BBI Ju funded project as best practice
In the bio-based economy era, the conversion of biomass into energy sources (biofuels, biogas) is an essential step in order to reduce the use of fossils. Enzymes play an indispensable role in this context even if they are not being specifically developed for the biogas production so far; therefore, efficient enzymes enabling the biomass conversion should be developed.
The DEMETER project, among its goals, aims to test a new enzyme product in order to improve the biogas yield; the enzyme has proven to be effective in practice and it can be produced at an industrial scale.
The DEMETER partners will give insights on the industrial and economic feasibility to apply a cost-effective enzyme product in biogas plants as well as on the impact of the developed processes and products on environment and economy.
