• Sophomores are preparing to read Elie Wiesel’s Night. This is a powerful memoir that is about a Holocaust survivor’s experiences during World War II.

• Juniors are currently studying American Revolutionary Literature. Specifically, we have discussed the Boston Massacre and the history of the time period. This week, students will be discussing persuasion and rhetorical devices and reading “The Declaration of Independence” and Patrick Henry’s “Speech to the Virginia Convention.”

• Tuesday, November 9 – AP Reading Quiz

• Friday, November 12 – Honors English II Independent Novel Test

Independent Reading:

• Honors English II students will have their second independent reading test on Monday, November 8. They have had over five weeks to complete their choice novel.

• AP Language and Composition students are currently reading Into the Wild. They have also been given a reading calendar to help them manage their shorter reading assignments and Writer’s Notebook entries. They may work ahead of the schedule to help them manage their time and workload.

graphing calculators on a more regular

basis. They will need to have one for use at

home. I recommend the TI-84 PLUS. If you

have any questions before you buy, feel free

to contact me.

• Geometry students need to have a ruler,

protractor, and compass for use at home.

• All math students should have an ample

supply of graph paper for the year.

Digital Electronics – Juniors - Students are finishing up their birthday circuits. This is exciting due to the complexity of

the assignment. A picture of a completed circuit is included above.

- We will begin discussing how we are able to use electrical circuits to do math this week

by covering binary addition and subtraction.

Principles of Engineering - Sophomores

- Students have been using RoboPro, our programming software to develop a small

sensor controlled stop light and another system that works similarly to a heat sensor.

- Currently, we are going through a series of devices that students have to develop in

order, including a small elevator or a thermostat.
