NO: Engineering majors needing Basic Math Start on the Math sequence Take Gen-Ed classes to fill your schedule After Math sequence, if you are still on track

Target major prep classes and institution (CS/UC)

YES: Engineering majors and Calculus Ready Focus on major prep classes

MATH, PHYS, CHEM, ENGR Don’t worry about Gen-Ed

Different Rules regarding Transfer for Engineering Students

Since Engineering is High Unit Major, Focus shifts from Gen-Ed to Major preparation!!! (See www.assist.org)

CSU A3 exceptions for admission critical thinking already embedded in courses SJSU Not Requesting “Golden Four” for ENGR

IGETC generally not recommended for UC Want you to get thru MATH/PHYS/ENGR etc

Follow Admissions Criteria for CSU and/or UC Transferable units (60) 15

Transfer Selection Criteria Many Engineering programs are impacted and

also base admissions on GPA Major preparation grades

MATH, PHYS, ENGR, CHEM

Many students hurt their prospects by focusing on Gen Ed over Major Prep!!
