ENG START switch This selector makes it possible to start the engines and feeds the FADEC if it is on the ground. • NORM: default position when no action is required • CRANK: (not operational in XPlane) • IGN / START: Allows the starting sequence of the engine on the ground or in flight. ENG MAN START Pushbuttons These push buttons are used to start the manual engine start sequence. Each engine is controlled by a main lever three-position motor: • RUN to run the engine and propeller • FTHR to start or feather the propeller. The feathering of the propeller cancels the speed and the beta regulation. • OFF to stop the engine (Fuel OFF)

ENG MASTER

Levers

NOTE: In the A400M-v1 (via PlaneMaker / engines) the throttle lever reverses are activated at

"0.10". This allows you to maneuver on the ground with reverse throttle (THROTTLE BOX).

Starting Operation

Engines can be started with sample air from the APU,

other motors running or an external pneumatic supply unit.

Automatic ground start

The following procedure is used to start the automatic start of the engine on the ground:

1 - "ENG START", the switch on the overhead "must be changed from" NORM "to" IGN / START ".

To control, select the SR "APU" panel on one of the screens.

2 - The lever "ENG MASTER 1" must have gone from OFF to FTHR, so in XPlane it is necessary to maintain "the tight

hand" on the FTHR of the "engine 1" lever until the "PWR" exceeds 20% (duration about 20 seconds per engine).

(The FADEC will execute the start sequence and stabilize the engine at idle, the propeller remains in the flag).

3 - Make sure that the throttle levers (THROTTLE BOX) are in position "GI" when the parameters

motor are stabilized, the "ENG MASTER 1" lever will change to the "RUN" position.

4 - "ENG START", the switch must be reset to "NORM" when all the motors are running.

Automatic flight start

Compared to automatic ground start, the following differences apply:

No EGT maximum delay

Maximum start-up time extended

No start-abandon if EGT is exceeded No starter engagement outside of the assisted restart envelope

(determined by the air speed threshold).

Stops engines

The normal engine shutdown procedure is as follows:

1 - The thrust lever is set to "GI" or "FI" to stabilize the engine at idle.

2 - The "ENG MASTER" lever must be changed from "FTHR" to "OFF" (in Xplane with the "arrows" on the lever),

when the motor parameters are stabilized (power, Np, EGT and N3).

The FADEC will close the fuel valve and the HP bleed valve.

The engine decelerates and stops.

=================================================================

I tried to reproduce the real cockpit of the A400M. So, a certain number of present buttons are not operational.

Depending on their real utility in the XPlane simulator, I could consider animating buttons or developing panel openings.
