In May the Chamber hosted a new program, 12@12, a roundtable discussion between business owners,

Chamber Board Members, City Officials and O’Fallon Mayor Bill Hennessy. The purpose of the meeting is to have an open conversation about the accomplishments and struggles our business are having and learning more about how both the City and Chamber can assist.

Our first meeting’s conversation was centered on workforce development, particularly in manufacturing and other skilled trades. From that meeting we have been working on learning more about technical training opportunities, the Missouri Work Ready Communities program as well as other avenues available to our employers to find the employees they need to help their businesses succeed. Although we haven’t yet hosted our July 12@12, I’m anticipating another great discussion that will lead to more action steps in making our community the best place for businesses to succeed. If your company is facing

a particular struggle that you would like to share or for the Chamber to assist, please don’t wait for an invitation to 12@12; make a call to the Chamber office. If your company isn’t struggling, but rather having great accomplishments, make a call to the Chamber- we would love to share your great news!

Finally, I will simply put out a reminder as we get into the dog days of summer; on January 6th it was -10 degrees in O’Fallon with a wind chill of -33.

Enjoy your summer!Jeff Arneson2014 Chairman of the Board

our presenting sponsor Mercy and our sponsors and vendors for their kind support and time. A Health Expo was held following the race and was full of great vendors offering a variety of great information and goodies.

With an event this large we couldn’t have done it without all of our committee members and volunteers who showed up early and worked hard. We truly appreciate all of the help from The Crossing, City of O’Fallon, and the O’Fallon Police Department.

The Firecracker Run is held each year in order to promote our members as well as raise funds for the O’Fallon Chamber of Commerce so that we can keep our membership

dues at a level that is affordable to all of our businesses. With such success the run exceeded the budgeted goal. We are already planning an even better 31st annual run!

eather Kemper-Hussey currently lives in Wentzville with her husband, Robert Hussey,

and their four children; Tori (18), Nick (12), John (8) and Isabella (1). After studying communications / public relations at the University of Missouri, Columbia, Heather went on to receive her Masters in writing from lindenwood University.

Heather has been in the public relations industry for almost 15 years, mostly working for nonprofits. In her career, she has worked with the media to help clients appear in TIME Magazine, The New york Times, several debuts on local television stations and, more recently, helped Pastor Mike Schreiner from Morning Star Church appear on MSNBC.

In 2009, Heather sought out a new church home; a place where they would be accepted, loved and where their children could grow in their faith. When they found Morning Star Church, they found their new church family. Three years ago, Morning Star hired Heather as a full-time employee.

As the Director of Communications for Morning Star Church, Heather

helps promote the organization within the congregation and the community. She oversees media relations, public relations, crisis communications and marketing.

Founded in 1999, Morning Star Church seeks to meet people right where they are and help them take their next step on their spiritual journey. Morning Star provides a wide variety of opportunities for spiritual and emotional growth, from support groups to classes, all of which are available to members as well as to the community. Every Thursday evening, even on holidays, Morning Star hosts Celebrate Recovery (mscwired.org/celebraterecovery). This group is for anyone wanting help with a hurt, habit or hang up – such as divorce, anxiety, food addiction, finances, anger, etc. They also offer DivorceCare, Marriage Mentors, MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), Financial Peace classes, and so much more to help people take next steps in their lives.

Under the leadership of lead Pastor Mike Schreiner, Morning Star has grown from its initial attendance of 200 people to over 5,000 during 2014 Easter weekend. In 2010, Outreach Magazine named Morning

memBer spotliGhthEaThEr kEmPEr-hussEy

H Star Church as one of “The 100 Fastest Growing Churches in America.” Pastor Mike attributes their growth to the contemporary and relevant weekend messages, as well as their many outreach opportunities that reach out to the community.

Morning Star is well-known in the community for their annual Great Pumpkin Festival (Oct. 19, 2014) that is open to the community offering pumpkins, food, hayrides, petting zoo and more – for free! last year, over 4,000 people stepped on their campus to be loved on by the members of Morning Star Church.

Morning Star Church welcomes anyone wanting to find a church family. However, not a perfect family -- as they are a Christ-centered community of imperfect people connecting to other imperfect people to the perfect love of God.

Morning Star Church is located at 1600 Feise Road in Dardenne Prairie. Services are offered on Saturday at 4:30 p.m., and Sunday at 9:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. you can find more information at www.mscwired.org, www.facebook.com/mscwired, or by calling 636.561.5680.
