Emerging Technologies

Technology Assessments Energy efficient measures that are new to a market or under-utilized for a given application will be evaluated for performance claims and overall effectiveness in reducing energy consumption and peak demand using data from customer or field sites, laboratory testing, or paper studies.

Scaled Field Placements These projects consist of placing a number of measures at customer sites as a key step to gain market traction and possibly gain market information. The measures will typically have already undergone an assessment or similar evaluation to reduce risk of failure.

Demonstration Showcases These possibly large-scale projects will expose measures to various stakeholders utilizing real-world applications and installations. Monitoring activities on demonstration showcases will be determined, as appropriate.

Market and Behavioral Studies These projects involve targeted research on customer behavior, decision making, and market behavior to gain a qualitative and quantitative understanding of customer perceptions, customer acceptance of new measures, and market readiness and potential for new measures.

Technology Development Support Program will look for targeted opportunities to support energy efficiency product development. Product development is the process of taking an early-stage technology or concept and transforming it into a saleable product.

Technology Test Centers Program will provide unique capabilities for evaluating performance of new technologies. Test centers are comprised of three test facilities focused on Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, and Lighting.
